FRIGG Silicone Pacifiers Recall Overview:

  • Who: Retailer Mushie & Co is recalling 333,725 FRIGG silicone pacifiers.
  • Why: The nipple on the pacifiers was found to be a choking hazard as it can easily detach from the base.
  • Where: The recall is effective in the United States.

Retailer Mushie & Co is recalling 333,725 FRIGG silicone pacifiers after they were found to pose a choking hazard to babies.

In a recall notice, Mushie & Co says it is recalling the Classic and Daisy designs, which both have a silicone nipple on a base that has a fine slit that can cause the nipple to detach from the plastic shield, posing the choking hazard.

The Classic pacifier has a silicone nipple attached to a round plastic shield and the Daisy has a silicone nipple attached to a round scalloped plastic shield. Each design came in two sizes: 0–6 months and 6–18 months, and each was sold in more than 40 colors. The name “FRIGG” appears in raised letters on the handle of the pacifier shield.

According to the recall notice, Mushie & Co has received eight reports of the silicone nipple detaching from the plastic shield of the pacifier, and the manufacturer has received about 200 reports from outside the United States of the silicone nipple detaching from the plastic shield of the pacifier. No injuries have been reported.

The pacifiers, which were made in Denmark, were sold nationwide at SpearmintLOVE, TJ Maxx, Lil’ Tulips, Olivia & Jade Company stores and online at www.mushie.com and www.amazon.com from April 2021 through December 2021 for about $8 for a single pacifier and about $15 for a pack of two pacifiers.

Consumers Should Immediately Stop Using Recalled Pacifiers, Contact Firm For Refund, Credit

The retailer is urging consumers to immediately stop using the recalled pacifiers and contact the firm for a full refund or credit.

To get a credit or refund, consumers should cut the silicone nipple from the base of the pacifier and send a photograph of both the detached silicone nipple and the base of the pacifier to Mushie & Co at mushie.com/pages/recalls

Consumers should then properly dispose of the pacifier by placing both pieces into the garbage, the company says.

Recently in the UK, another baby product was recalled due to posing a choking hazard; The Little Green Sheep recalled three of the charms sold for its curved and A-frame baby gyms due to a choking hazard posed by the wooden rings on the charms. The company said in the recall notice that “use and abuse” testing found the wooden rings in the charms could break into small pieces.
