nuwave ovenA class action lawsuit claims that the NuWave’s countertop ovens have plastic covers that are susceptible to cracking after even minimal or normal use.

The NuWave class action lawsuit was filed by Kiana Horn, who says the domes are prone to cracking and shattering because of a design defect.

Horn goes on to state that NuWave is aware of the problem, but has not attempted to remedy the large-scale problem.

Allegedly, NuWave requires customers to pay for replacements covers for their NuWave ovens, as opposed to covering the cost or recalling the item.

The NuWave cracking dome class action lawsuit says that Horn and other customers were financially injured by the defective NuWave domes, and by NuWave’s failure to fix the problem because had they known that the ovens were defective, they would not have purchased them or would not have paid as much as they did.

Horn explains that the covers, or domes, of the NuWave ovens are essential to the function of the device. She says that without the covers, the ovens do not cook food, they do not retain heat, and they are not safe to use.

In addition to financial injury, the defective NuWave ovens allegedly pose a risk of physical injury to customers, because the cracked domes may “emit heat, steam, or hot oil that can cause burns or other injuries,” says Horn.

Allegedly, NuWave advertises that the countertop ovens, including the domes, are free from defects and are safe to use, touting that the domes are dishwasher safe. According to Horn, these representations of the products constitute express warranties.

However, the device allegedly is not as durable and high-quality as advertised.

The NuWave oven class action lawsuit says that when customers complain about the cracked dome, the company tells customers to upgrade from the Standard Dome to the newer and more expensive Power Dome.

However, the NuWave countertop oven class action lawsuit states that just like the Standard Dome, the Power Dome possesses the cracking detect.

Allegedly, the Power Dome does not live up to its advertisements that it is “shatter resistant” and that it “uses similar technology applied in the manufacturing of jumbo windshields and NASA spaceships.”

Horn goes on to say that NuWave does not allow its customers to take advantage of the one-year warranty on its product to get a replacement dome, requiring them to pay out-of-pocket for a new dome.

I love the nuwave oven but I have the same problem as everyone with my dome cracking. Please add me

  2. Liz Mickens says:

I have purchased 3 NuWave Ovens, most recent NuWave Oven ProPlus was purchased on 9/21/2019. The dome has cracked on all of them. My current one cracked in less than 1 year. I use it about 3 times per week. This is really ridiculous! Just happened to find this site while looking to replace the dome.

  3. Ms. Hampton says:

received my Pro Plus as a gift in 2018 and started using it this summer (2020) The “Dome” never really looked clean after washing. Now, the dome is a cracked mess, the oven is inoperable, and Nuwave wants money for a replacement because I don’t have a receipt.

  4. Heather Morris says:

Our NuWave dome cracked after just a couple months of use. Disappointed to see that the company won’t offer a free replacement, knowing that the plastic has failed/cracked during heating. Not sure if it’s too late to be added to the class action suit (12/2020).

  5. ROSHAUNDA FRANKLIN says:

I am on my 3rd NuWave Dome that I just started using last week and it has cracks in it already. Now I can’t find a replacement because they are sold out. I thought I was doing something wrong until this last one. Please add me to this.

  6. Julie Bucolo says:

Bought 2 domes up to now. My current one has 2 big cracks an a 3rd one is starting. $30 a pop an now they seem to be going up in price. $39 It’s a shame all these issues because it is a great machine an it’s not fair to the consumers.

  7. Chelle Bloom says:

Chelle B. New York- This is the second dome I have purchased on top of the Nuwave .
It seems I must purchase one once every 11 months.

  8. B. Martin says:

We really loved our NuWave. It was fast cooking and kept the kitchen cool on a hot summer day without having to use the oven range. We used it maybe 20-30 times and then it started showing small cracks in the clear dome. We always gently washed and dried the dome by hand. The cracks started getting longer and thicker all over the dome. Eventually, the last time we used it, it broke in half when I was washing it.
I was very lucky that I didn’t get cut by the sharp broken pieces. We were very disappointed we had to throw the dome out. I checked into ordering a NEW dome and it was more than half the price of the original unit. (And that was before any shipping charges) I can’t afford a whole new unit and don’t want to pay for such an expensive dome replacement. So there the NuWave sits in my cupboard not being used and taking up precious storage space. I was hoping that I could get a new replacement dome for considerably cheaper, or a no charge replacement dome from NuWave to replace the one that shattered and had to throw out because it was defective.

I would also like to be added to the class action suit as long as there isn’t a fee to be included. I can’t afford a new replacement machine and I think NuWave should replace the defective shattered domes at no charge.

My Nuwave has been cracking in several places, and it won’t last much longer. I tried contacting NW, but they have avoided me like the plague. Well NW you weren’t avoiding me when I was considering this crack pot of an oven. After reading these reviews I’m buying a DIFFERENT air fryer. Nuwave I refuse to be your sucker forcing ppl to buy two, three and five domes. You deserve this lawsuit.

  10. Maggie Waterhouse says:

My dome also cracked! I can’t afford to get the replacement done right now so mine is useless.
