Public health alert issued for Nurture Life meals due to misbranding, allergy risk

Nurture Life health alert overview: 

• Who: The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a health alert for Nurture Life’s chicken parm with veggie spaghetti kids meal. 
• Why: The meals have undeclared egg whites, an allergen, in the spaghetti component the Nurture Life health alert says.
• Where: The Nurture Life meals were distributed across the United States.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued an allergy alert for certain Nurture Life meals — specifically chicken parm with veggie spaghetti kids meal products — due to undeclared egg whites.

The spaghetti component of the meals contained egg whites that could be an issue for those with egg allergies, the health alert says. The affected Nurture Life meals are no longer available, so a recall was not issued.

The Nurture Life meals come in a 5.9-ounce tray with a sleeve label containing the Nurture Life Kids Meals Chicken Parm with Super Veggie Spaghetti with “enjoy by” dates between Jan. 9, 2024, and March 1, 2024.

Nurture Life allergy issue found during internal audit, alert says

Nurture Life says it has not received any reports of allergic reaction related to the alert so far.

The FSIS says it is concerned meals affected by the allergy alert may still be in consumers’ freezers and advises that anyone with egg allergies should not consume the meals. The Nurture Life allergy issue was discovered during an internal audit.
