Dole Fresh Parsley Recall Overview:

  • Who: Dole Fresh Vegetable Inc. issued a voluntary recall for some of its Curly Leaf Parsley.
  • Why: Dole says a sample of the fresh parsley tested positive for E. coli contamination in Michigan.
  • Where: The affected Curly Leaf Parsley was originally shipped to Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, and Missouri.

Consumers in five states should double check before adding a bit of color and flavor to their food with fresh parsley. Dole Fresh Vegetable Inc. is citing E. coli concerns for a voluntary recall of a limited number of its Curly Leaf Parsley product.

Dole says a random sample of Dole Curly Leaf Parsley harvested on Aug. 18, 2021 and Aug. 19, 2021 tested positive for shiga-toxin producing E. coli, according to the US Food and Drug Administration’s recall notice

The contamination was limited to a single sample and found by the Michigan Department of Agriculture, says Dole, which is calling the recall “precautionary.”

Dole says no illnesses have been reported but advises all consumers to discard the fresh parsley without consuming it. The affected Curly Leaf Parsley was originally shipped in 60-count and 30-count pack sizes to Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, and Missouri, according to the company.

Products Affected by the Fresh Parsley Recall

Curly Leaf Parsley with the product code 0 07143 000310 3 should be discarded by wholesalers, distributors, and retail stores, while consumers can find the affected product by matching a price look up number of 4899, located on the packaging’s binding twist tie.

Consumers can also look for a UPC code of 0 3383 80330 0. No other Curly Leaf Parsley products are affected by the recall, says Dole.

Retailers or consumers with questions can contact the Dole Consumer Center by telephone Monday through Friday at 1-800-356-3111 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. PST.

Dole also recalled a number of its blueberry packs in June after discovering a potential contamination of cyclospora
