Apple iPhone performance class action rebates
Top Class Actions readers reported receiving settlement checks from a $500 million class action lawsuit settlement resolving claims that Apple throttled iPhone performance for older models.
The settlement benefits owners of iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus or SE devices that ran iOS 10.2.1 or later before Dec. 21, 2017, or, in the case of iPhone 7 and 7 Plus devices, that ran iOS 11.2 or later before Dec. 21, 2017.
According to the iPhone class action lawsuit, Apple knowingly slowed down older iPhone models through targeted updates to try to force consumers to purchase newer, more expensive models. Apple allegedly claimed these updates were only an attempt to prevent battery-related shutdowns but later admitted to slowing down the phones intentionally.
Apple agreed to pay between $310 million and $500 million, depending on the number of claims filed, to resolve the iPhone class action lawsuit. Claimants were projected to receive around $25 per eligible device. Our readers reportedly received payments of $92.17 from the Apple iPhone settlement.
To receive a settlement payment, consumers needed to file a claim form by Oct. 6, 2020.

American Airlines bag fees settlement checks
American Airlines agreed to pay $7.5 million to resolve claims it charged unlawful bag fees, resulting in recent payments to Top Class Actions readers.
The settlement benefits American Airlines customers who were charged a checked bag fee on or after Feb. 24, 2017, for tickets issued before April 9, 2020, who received an email confirming they could check one or more bags at no charge or who held an American Citi or Barclays credit card entitling them to a free checked bag.
Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit claimed American Airlines agents asked them to pay checked baggage fees despite communications from the airline assuring them they were able to check bags for free.
American Airlines agreed to pay $7.5 million to resolve the bag fees class action lawsuit. Under the settlement terms, claimants could receive a 100% refund for unfair baggage fees. One Top Class Actions reader received $75 from this class action lawsuit settlement.
Consumers needed to file a claim form by March 15, 2023, to receive a settlement payment.
The American Airlines bag fees class action lawsuit is Cleary, et al. v. American Airlines Inc., Case No. 4:21-cv-00184-O, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
Global Tel Link AdvancePay class action rebates
Top Class Actions readers report receiving payments from a $67 million Global Tel Link settlement resolving claims that the inmate telephone company unlawfully retained positive balances from closed accounts.
The settlement benefits consumers who had a positive balance in a prepaid GTL account that was reduced to a zero balance after up to 180 days of account inactivity between April 3, 2011, and Oct. 6, 2021.
According to the class action lawsuit, Global Tel Link closed inactive accounts after 180 days even when these accounts had a positive balance. Instead of refunding consumers for these positive balances, GTL allegedly retained these funds.
Global Tel Link agreed to pay $67 million to resolve the class action lawsuit. Under the settlement terms, consumers could receive a 100% refund. After a successful first round of payments, the settlement issued a second distribution to some claimants. One reader reportedly received a second distribution of $8.97 from this settlement.
To receive a settlement payment, consumers needed to file a claim form by June 14, 2022.
The Global Tel Link AdvancePay class action lawsuit is Githieya v. Global Tel Link Corp., Case No. 1:15-CV-00986-AT, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
Allwell Behavioral Health data breach settlement checks
Top Class Actions readers report receiving payments from a $650,000 settlement with Allwell Behavioral Health resolving claims the health agency failed to protect patients from a 2022 data breach.
The settlement benefits individuals who received a data breach notification from Allwell Behavioral Health regarding the March 2022 data breach.
Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit claim Allwell should have implemented cybersecurity measures to protect their information from hackers. Allwell Behavioral Health’s negligence allegedly allowed cybercriminals to steal Social Security numbers and other sensitive patient information.
Allwell Behavioral Health agreed to pay $650,000 to resolve the class action lawsuit. Claimants could receive up to $4,000 for data breach losses and other benefits. One reader reportedly received a payment of $313.57 from this data breach settlement.
In order to receive a settlement payment, consumers needed to file a claim form by Oct. 2, 2023.
The Allwell Behavioral Health data breach class action lawsuit is McKittrick, et al. v. Allwell Behavioral Health Services, Case No. CH2022-0174, in the Ohio Court of Common Pleas for Muskingum County.
Google search referrer headers class action rebates
Top Class Actions readers reportedly received payments from a $23 million Google class action lawsuit settlement resolving claims that the company shared search queries without user consent.
The settlement benefits Google Search users who clicked on a search result in the United States between Oct. 26, 2006, and Sept. 30, 2013.
According to the class action lawsuit, Google shared search query information with third parties without getting user consent. Plaintiffs in the case argue that these policies compromised their information.
Google agreed to pay $23 million to resolve the class action lawsuit. Under the settlement terms, claimants could receive an equal share of the net settlement. Top Class Actions readers report receiving checks for $7.70 from this Google class action lawsuit settlement.
In order to receive a settlement payment, consumers needed to file a claim form by Aug. 31, 2023.

Synchrony Bank TCPA settlement checks
Top Class Actions readers report receiving payments from a $2.6 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims of unlawful telemarketing calls.
The settlement benefits consumers who received a call from Synchrony Bank or one of its agents using an artificial or prerecorded voice since Oct. 16, 2020, where the call concerned a Synchrony Bank account that didn’t belong to the call recipient.
The telemarketing class action lawsuit claims that Synchrony Bank bombarded consumers with robocalls regarding accounts that did not belong to them. These calls allegedly violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
Synchrony Bank agreed to pay $2.6 million to resolve the class action lawsuit. Under the settlement terms, claimants could receive an equal share of the net settlement fund. One reader reportedly received a check for $40.11 from this TCPA settlement.
In order to receive a settlement payment, consumers needed to file a claim form by March 30, 2023.

I never received a settlement money for any of the datq breaches and my information was sold online three times and they have filled taxes under my information and opened bank accounts under my information and they refused to shut down those accounts settlement my butt they want do anything except give to someone else that says they are your payee or to a stranger and they let people get green cards and passports under your information I can’t even get a lawyer to take my case the employee of one of the credit report place they let her buy houses credit cards and cars and everything under my information and they let the other woman keep using my information and they had a nerve to ask me for my passport and green card if I didn’t send them my green card or passport they were going to send me back out of the United States.
