Eagle Industrial Group Overhead Garage Storage Racks Recall Overview:

  • Who: Eagle Industrial Group has recalled around 12,800 of its SafeRacks/Monsterrax Overhead Garage Racks.
  • Why: The recall was initiated over concerns that the racks can fall from the ceiling after being attached, presenting an impact injury hazard.
  • Where: The recall is nationwide.

Eagle Industrial Group has issued a recall for around 12,800 of its Overhead Garage Storage Racks over concerns they can collapse from the ceiling.

The recall is for Eagle Industrial’s SafeRacks/Monsterrax Overhead Garage Storage Racks, which are height-adjustable and attach to a ceiling, according to a recall notice posted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Apr. 21.

Eagle Industrial says it initiated the recall after discovering that potentially defective hex bolts were used in the overhead garage storage racks.

SafeRacks/Monsterrax has received 55 reports of the garage storage racks falling from the ceiling with one leading to an injury to a consumer’s face, according to the recall notice.

The recalled garage storage racks are sold in either white or hammertone (gray) colors and in seven different sizes, including 4 ft. by 4 ft., 4 ft. by 8 ft., 2 ft. by 6 ft., 3 ft. by 6 ft., 4 ft. by 6 ft., 3 ft. by 8 ft. and 2 ft. by 8 ft, according to the recall notice.

Eagle Industrial Advises Consumers To Unload Items From Garage Storage Racks

Eagle Industrial is advising consumers who own the recalled garage storage racks to immediately unload any items from them and contact SafeRacks/Monsterrax to receive replacement bolts free of charge.

SafeRacks/Monsterrax has already contacted all known purchasers of the garage storage racks to provide them with free replacement hex bolts, according to the recall notice.

Eagle Industrial says the recalled garage storage racks were sold online at websites including Costco.com, amazon.com, saferacks.com and monsterrax.com from September 2021 to December 2021 for around $140.

More than 180,000 Bestar wall beds were recalled by the company earlier this month over impact and crushing hazard concerns after a wall bed fell on a 79-year-old woman and injured her spine.
