United Airlines canceled flights class action lawsuit overview:

  • Who: Alexander Eaton filed a class action lawsuit against United Airlines Inc. and The Boeing Company.
  • Why: Eaton claims United failed to notify passengers that their flights were canceled after the FAA grounded all Boeing 737-Max 9 aircrafts in January following a midflight incident involving the airplanes.
  • Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in the Circuit Court of the Twentieth Judicial Circuit in and for Lee County Florida.

A new United Airlines class action lawsuit alleges the company failed to inform passengers about flight cancellations after the Federal Aviation Administration grounded all Boeing 737-9 Max airplanes in January.

Plaintiff Alexander Eaton’s class action lawsuit claims United failed to inform him that a flight he purchased in May of last year for an Idaho vacation in January was canceled in the wake of the FAA grounding the 737-9 Max airplanes.

“Defendant, UNITED AIRLINES should have contacted Plaintiff to let him know that his flight was cancelled, but never did,” the United Airlines class action states.

Eaton wants to represent a nationwide class of individuals who had a United Airlines flight on a Boeing 737-9 Max airplane that was canceled after Jan. 5, 2024 — when the FAA chose to ground the airplanes — and who never received any notification of the cancellations.

FAA grounded all Boeing 737-9 Max aircrafts following midflight incident

The FAA grounded all Boeing 737-9 Max airplanes after a door plug blew off one of the planes while it was operating an Alaska Airlines flight in January.

Boeing is also named as a defendant in the United Airlines class action lawsuit, with Eaton arguing the plane manufacturer is guilty of negligence by failing to install four bolts into the door plug involved in the Alaska Airlines incident, as per a National Transportation Safety Board investigation report.

“Defendant, THE BOEING COMPANY failed to install the four bolts before the plane was delivered to Alaska Airlines,” the United Airlines class action states.

Eaton claims United is guilty of negligence. He demands a jury trial and requests an award of liquidated damages for himself and all class members.

In a separate United Airlines class action, the company faces claims that a flight attendant served a dangerously hot meal to a 6-year-old child on a flight from Israel to New Jersey, causing the child to suffer burn injuries.

We need a class action suit for all those who were stranded by United Airlines in January and still have not received reimbursement for actual out of pocket expenses incurred. Six passengers booked in first class from Puerto Rico to San Jose, CA. Flights canceled two days in a row. Still fighting with United for reimbursement.
