Indivior, Suboxone settlement overview:
- Who: Indivior Inc. agreed to pay $102.5 million to end claims brought against it by a total of 42 state attorneys general.
- Why: The state attorneys general accused Indivior of monopolizing the market for Suboxone, an opioid addiction treatment.
- Where: The Indivior/Suboxone settlement involved attorneys general nationwide.
Indivior Inc. agreed to pay $102.5 million to resolve claims the pharmaceutical company monopolized the market for the opioid addiction treatment Suboxone.
The Indivior/Suboxone settlement ends allegations lobbied against Indivior by a total of 42 state attorneys general that were scheduled to begin litigation in September, Law360 reports.
The attorneys general, led by the Wisconsin Attorneys General Office, accused Indivior of concocting a scheme to have patients switch from a tablet form of Suboxone to a dissolvable film version to keep its monopoly on the drug in place.
Indivior, along with its parent company, Reckitt Benckiser, previously came to settlement agreements with federal and state enforcers totaling more than $2 billion, Law360 reports.
The attorneys general took aim against Indivior in 2016, accusing the company of switching its patients from the tablet to a new dissolvable film form of Suboxone in an effort to stave off emerging competition.
The switch came as exclusivity protections that existed on the tablet form of Suboxone were about to end, Law360 reports.
Indivior accused of making false statements to FDA
Attorneys general argued Indivior made false statements to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) about the safety of the tablet version of Suboxone to induce what is known as a “product-hop.”
They also accused Indivior of making false claims to the FDA about the potential for the tablet form of Suboxone to lead to accidental pediatric exposure, Law360 reports.
Ultimately, the attorneys general argued the move from tablet to dissolvable film delayed generic versions of Suboxone from entering the market and increased the price of the tablet form prior to it being pulled from the market.
Reckitt Benckiser and Indivior agreed to pay $500,000 last November to resolve similar Federal Trade Commission claims.

I take suboxone for pain have for years they put me in the film for awhile then back to pills sublingual
I been on suboxone for years. I believe over 8 years I’m still taken them. You have said leave a comment. I don’t know if you would need anymore information if so let me know. Thank you
I’m in the same boat, I was taking the films for over 7 years. You should look into the sublocade shot, and consider making the switch. My doctor said I will be done with the shot in 6 months or less. I couldn’t ever see a light at the end of the tunnel while taking the films, I couldn’t even think about not taking one once the withdrawal started as it was awful. But with the shot, I could finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve been feeling so much better, almost like my old self again before the pain meds and sub films, I have more energy and overall so much better. I truly believe it will be much easier to stop the shot. I did research and read so many success stories, I believe the shot is the best option. I hope you look into it. I wish I started sooner when my doctor first asked me so many months ago; I’d be done already if I would’ve just trusted and listened to him.
My husband was taken the film version and he has since passedan away in 2020
I was switched to the film. I have been on Suboxone for 10 years. I need someone who can help me with this claim to contact me. I have to pay over $400.00 a month out of pocket. I do not have insurance.

But with the shot, I could finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve been feeling so much better, almost like my old self again before my life went to shit after I was prescribed pain meds when I was in a bad car accident, during the opioid epidemic then not long after the crackdown began and I got cutoff with no warning from my pain meds that I was obviously now addicted to. So then I bought them off the street for ridiculous amounts of money for a long time. Until I finally decided that I didn’t want to keep chasing that high, I didn’t want to keep fighting that same fight every single day, the constant need to find my next fix as it was SO exhausting and extremely expensive. I was done so I went to see a doctor at an urgent care clinic and they recommended suboxone. I was paying $150 a month to my suboxone doctor for 7+ years. Since starting the shot, I have more energy and overall I feel so much better. I truly believe it will be much easier to stop the shot. I did my research and I’ve read so many success stories, I believe the shot is the best option. I hope you look into it. I really want to spread the word about the shot because I know what these films have done to me and my life. The films legit rotted my teeth and I’ve lost so many jobs over the last 7 years bc I could never get my shit together. I’m finally starting to feel like it’s possible to be my old self again and maybe I’ll be able to keep my next position for longer than 6 months to a year. Please look into the sublocade shot, it’s absolutely worth it.
I was paying over 100$ a month for my mothers prescription. They had her on the film and switched to the pill for a few months then switched her back on the film . She is still taking a high dose of the Suboxone film, but now her doctor is prescribing it to her for the time being.
I was switched in 2016 and prescribed for 7 years total
