Topps, Panini Redemption Cards Class Action Lawsuits Overview:

Redemption cards sold in trading card packs by Panini America and The Topps Company constitute an unlawful lottery and violate federal and state law, two new class action lawsuits allege.
Plaintiff Belinda Wheeler argued in separate complaints filed against Panini and Topps that redemption cards, which may come within a pack and allow a consumer to obtain a “random speciality card”,” constitute an “unlawful lottery” since non-purchasers are not given an option to enter.
“Federal and state law require that a contest which offers a chance at winning a thing of value permit any person to enter, regardless of whether they purchased the item in question,” the class action lawsuits state.
Wheeler claims the packaging for Topps and Panini brand trading cards highlights that they contain redemption cards; however, neither fails to display no purchase necessary (NPN) information in a “clear and conspicuous manner” as required by law.
“NPN instructions are required to be equally prominent to other methods of entry and cannot place a non-purchaser at a disadvantage relative to a purchaser,” the class action lawsuits state.
Topps, Panini Consumers Unaware They Don’t Legally Need To Purchase, Class Action Says
By failing to highlight NPN information, consumers are unaware that they would not legally need to purchase the product to obtain a redemption card, the class action lawsuits allege.
Further, Wheeler argues that a consumer would be unable to purchase and return the product to obtain the NPN instructions since returning packs of trading cards is not allowed.
“By requiring purchase of the Product and rendering it difficult to impossible for nonpurchasers to obtain the redemption cards, consumers are misled to purchase items they otherwise would not have to at higher prices,” the class action lawsuits state.
Wheeler argues consumers end up erroneously believing that the only way for them to enter a redemption card contest, and have an equal chance of winning, is by purchasing the trading card pack.
“Plaintiff did not have to purchase the Products to enter the contests, but due to the practices described here, was not given another reasonable option,” the class action lawsuits state.
Wheeler claims Topps and Panini are both guilty of unjust enrichment and in violation of, among other things, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and multiple state consumer fraud acts.
Wheeler wants to represent a District of Columbia class and multistate subclass of consumers who have purchased either Topps or Panini brand trading cards.
Plaintiff is demanding jury trials in both complaints and requesting injunctive relief along with monetary, statutory and/or punitive damages for themselves and all class members.

I wanna be in class suit as well please contact. I’ve been waiting for on card redemption since October 2019 and tried calling and emailing multiple times and just get bs run around and now have another redemption as well and Topps redemption site impossible to check cards anymore as well …Topps and Panini both criminals and some of these cards on redemption are worth thousands if not tens of thousands, which some of them boxes sell for 3000 and then shove damn redemption in it c’mon crooks and fraudsters

I’ve been getting the run around from Panini on my redemption cards. They won’t even honor my Panini points and have sent me completely different cards that are straight trash. Topps hasn’t been much better. I’ve spent thousands of dollars on there products and you would think the times I do get a valuable redemption card it would be honored. Especially when you’re buying the most expensive products on the market!! MAKE COLLECTING GREAT AGAIN….🙏🏽🇺🇸🙏🏽🇺🇸
We submitted a redemption code for a high valued player and it states to be received within 120 days. That is not the case. Additionally, I purchased 4 packs of football cards never received any of them. Calling their customer service is a joke. After very long wait times you get routed to a voicemail. I’m sure they have hundreds of messages waiting to be listened too. I finally get a two sentence response to my emails and says or sorry you won’t be getting a physical pack of football cards just digital!! That is not what I ordered, even if it was digital where are they??? This company needs to be sued. How can you provide redemption codes for specialty high valued cards but not even have them in their possession? Is t that flakes advertisement and/or fraud?

Would love to be apart of this class action lawsuit. I pulled 2 Ja-marr Chase rookies . A 1/5 triple relic auto and a 1/20 rpa both redeemed over a year ago . Haven’t heard anything back after multiple attempts to call and email . I also sent messages on their chat with no response. Now I can’t even get into the app without agreeing to their new terms and conditions which I refuse to agree to since they want me to say I won’t sue them and I agree for them to send me whatever they want at their discretion in replace of my redemptions.
I have got lots of redemptions currently waiting on 6 probly redeemed 40 over years all take forever. How do we join lawsuit
I got a 2020 1st bowman chrome of luis robert numbered to 25 as a redemption. They stated the card is no longer available so they will send a package. However the Luis Robert card is $1500+ the two cards they sent me were not even worth $1 together. Pretty lame.
Not to mention I’m also waiting for 20+ other ones.
I’d have lost it on that one their trying to pull that with a Gavin Lux on card 1/5 with me ..told me if don’t wanna wait can click sub card …I looked into that substitute and everyone said that’s like the get f’d button 😂 lol.
I’m from Australia and have 2 LaMelo Ball redemptions sitting with Panini for over a year now. Combined value is roughly $3.5k. I’ve asked for a replacement and tried to contact them via every means possible and they simply don’t respond.
Worth noting that I probably spent $6-$8k on packs, boxes, and breaks to attain these cards and I literally have nothing to show for it. Panini are absolute criminals and I’d like to join the class action if possible.
So dumb. Why does everything need to be free. Buy a damn pack if you want a chance to win the card. Pretty simple really.

I JUST talked to someone at Panini! Called over 400x in the last few weeks. In 2020 i pulled a franchise lineups card out of National Treasures baseball. Silver holo 2/3. With Judge, Vlad Jr, and Bo, Big Papi, JD Martinez and Torres. Needless to say we were STOKED. Flash forward to today! I got ahold of someone at Panini. They said since i put in for a replacement they have up to 18 months (1 and a half years) to fill that AND my clock restarts EVERY time i respond to their 45 day inquiry. They told me that “the chase card” was the one i pulled out of this set. BUT…. Its only valued at 200-300 dollars. So this card doesnt qualify for a white box and even if it did i wouldnt get it for at least another year and a half. Im not a big collector, just a father who collects with his kid. Im disabled and we saved our money to get this box. As u know wasnt cheap!! So when we pulled it we were shocked and excited! I redeemed it on 12/26/2020. With last year Vlad Jr going off and this year Bo and Judge doing what they did. Please tell me HOW this card from NT Baseball that theres only 3 of is only worth 200-300 dollars?? BS!! Ive been collecting since 1988 i know better!!
They pushed this off onto me like i was the problem and should have know their rules (that arent listed) and i need to be patient!! ITS BEEN 2 DAMN YEARS! How can so many products of these players have gone out autographed. But mine hasnt?? I call BS! They werent ever going to make this card. They offered me points today to settle up. No other options. Refused to send me out anything other than that OR i have to continue to wait!! WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE TRYING TO GET SOMETHING THATS MINE!! Stay away from Panini products!! Force them out of business!! The customer service is HORRIBLE!! No empathy or understanding at all!! I wont ever buy another Panini product again! EVER! I suggest others do the same. It took me about 4 years to get my two Matt Harvey Auto’s back when he was a rookie and was hot, and it’s absolutely ridiculous that it takes that long to get! I even have a few Redemption cards that I can’t even get redeemed because of the Redemption cards being expired, and this is BS, because they put those Redemption cards in the packs, and when you buy a box of cards that’s a few years old and you get a Redemption card out of the packs in that box, then guess what, you’re screwed! This is wrong and unfair!!! Panini and Upper Deck both were already caught doing criminal activities when they were caught and prosecuted for buying and selling the fake jerseys in their cards selling them as authentic, so we already know they are absolute CROOKS!!!! They need to be shut down and be resold to another company, because they were good when they were still Pinnacle.

Panini just told me today, 11-17/2022 that EVERY time u hit the wait button or the request a sub button it RESETS ur waitinh time!!! GET THIS OUT THERE!! This came right out of there mouths today!! Not writen anywhere. AND u have to wait 1 and a HALF years past that. So every time ur clock starts over!!! Im so mad! Been waiting 2 years on THE chase card out of the 2020 NT Baseball set. Franchise lineup 2/3 with Bo, Vlad Jr, Judge, ect. They said my card is only valued at 200-300 🤣. When not a single one has been sold!! DONE with that crap company and i want to join this lawsuit. I have a 2016-16 immaculate dual patch auto redemption. They closed my redemption and send me an optic Kevin Knox rookie auto. The market price for optic kevin knox rc is around $20-40 and Bradley Beal auto patch card could sold for $80-$100. This is clearly rip off by panini.
