DoorDash fees class action lawsuit overview:

- Why: Consumers claim DoorDash charges unlawful fees to its users, delivery drivers and restaurant merchants.
- Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in Maryland federal court.
A federal judge in Maryland granted a motion to extend the discovery period for a class action lawsuit against DoorDash claiming the food delivery service charges unlawful fees. The deadline is now Feb. 16.
In a complaint filed against DoorDash last September, a group of consumers claim the company charges fees to its delivery drivers and restaurant merchants that cause consumers to “bear the unsettling burden of the increased cost.”
“Because DoorDash’s hidden fees (which include hidden commission, marketing, sponsored listing and credit card transactions fees) reduce profit margins on food orders, restaurants must increase their prices,” the DoorDash class action states.
The group of consumers claim DoorDash also charges users a variety of misleading and deceptive fees, including so-called “city” fees that “create the illusion for consumers that local governments impose these fees on orders.”
DoorDash charges delivery fees despite not performing deliveries, class action claims
DoorDash charges its users a number of delivery fees despite the company allegedly not conducting the deliveries themselves, the DoorDash class action alleges.
“DoorDash’s fees are deceptive, misleading and otherwise fraudulent. DoorDash promises services that it does not provide, including charging consumers a premium amount for deliveries that DoorDash does not perform,” the DoorDash class action states.
Consumers want to represent a nationwide class of DoorDash users who were “inappropriately and illegally charged” by paying any combination of a delivery fee, express (or priority) delivery fee, extended range delivery fee, marketing fee or commission fee after placing an order on the DoorDash app or website.
The class action lawsuit claims DoorDash is guilty of unjust enrichment, negligent misrepresentation, fraudulent concealment, fraud or deceit and violations of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, among other things.
The plaintiffs demand a jury trial and request declaratory and injunctive relief along with an award of monetary and treble damages for themselves and all class members.
In JUly 2022, a consumer filed a separate class action lawsuit against DoorDash, arguing the company falsely advertises it charges no delivery fees despite adding fees in the prices of items purchased for delivery.

Several different fees are applied on my orders
I too have fell victim upon ordering food from food delivery services and have been charged multiple fees associated with my purchase. delivery fees and fees just for using the service my $40 food order became $80 once everything was said and done and they also forgot half of my order. driver did not speak english either.
Hello, I was totally dumbfounded when I ordered a pizza using the Doordash App, because the 2 pizza places I normally order from didn’t have drivers that Saturday Night.
A Large “18-inch Supreme Pizza in my town, with free delivery, cost $22.50 total, I give driver $28.00.
Doordash had very few pizza places on their app. Places I’d never order from, but was craving a pizza. Bottom line, I ordered a “12 inch Supreme pizza, I also had to pick 1 of 3 boxes for drivers tip? Was also suppose to be free delivery.
My pizza was delivered fairly quick. I took the small pizza into kitchen, opened it up & was shocked to find a pain cheese pizza? Omg, I then seen the price I pd for someone to deliver this small pizza.
I was charged $ 39.75 for a small cheese pizza which was not what I ordered.
I called the pizza place itself & told them I received the wrong pizza & was charged over 3 x’s the amount?
The girl told me, there was nothing they could do for me?
Wow, I replied, I’m paying for your mistake? She said, You ordered from doordash, they put your order in? She then said, just don’t pay them.?
Well, my money was already deducted from my bank. Totally Unreal, I’ll never use Doordash again.
Thanks
The store cannot issue a refund, only doordash can. If it was a stacked order possibly driver switched your pizza. Either way you order should be refunded by DD. ALWAYS if you can pay with a credit card so you can dispute the charge. DD has been scamming from the customers, drivers, and businesses from the beginning.
Yes , the fees are huge and they jack up the menu prices too
Yes we have without being made aware of it until after payment.
