If you own a commercial or residential property that has Weather Shield windows or doors installed, you may want to follow the progress of the two following class action lawsuits over alleged defects.
The first class action lawsuit, Pagano, et. Al. v. Weather Shield Manufacturing, Inc., alleges Weather Shield’s “Visions 2000” vinyl horizontal sliding windows are defective. The lawsuit claims these alleged defects have either caused the windows to fail and cause damage or will, to a substantial certainty, cause them to fail in the future and cause damage to the home or building they are installed. The California Weather Shield class action lawsuit has been in litigation since March 2008 and was granted certification last week for a California statewide class of individuals who own homes or buildings that have Weather Shield Visions 2000 windows installed.
The second class action lawsuit, Gavron v. Weather Shield Mfg., Inc et al, was filed June 25, 2010 in the Southern District of Florida. The Florida class action lawsuit alleges Weather Shield’s LifeGuard Legacy windows and doors contain defects that include, but are not limited to, defective weather-stripping that allows water to penetrate the window’s frame and into the wall and interior of the home, causing damage such as rotting, delaminating, glass distortion and general deterioration of the doors and windows. The Florida Weather Shield class action is brought on behalf of all Florida residents who own or owned property that have or had Weather Shield LifeGuard Legacy windows and doors installed.
Both the California and Florida class action lawsuits against Weather Shield are seeking punitive damages, restitution and refunds for class members. Weather Shield is a Wisconsin-based manufacturer of window and door system products for the residential and commercial building industry worldwide.

Any resolution from weathershield for your premium series Windows? What’s going on with them?
We bought a 12 year old house with Weather Sheild Proshield double hung windows. Some of the sashes were completely rotten in places. Most of the rest have their painted surfaces cracking due to the wood swelling and will probably rot before too long The Weather Shield rep was only interested in trying to offer theories of how the windows must have been abused by the previous homeowner, rather than trying to figure out what was wrong with their manufacturing process. We replaced the worst ones at great expense rather than buying replacement sashes from a company that won’t stand behind their product. We will end up replacing the rest of them when we can budget it.
Having the same issues. I didnt know about this being a major problem until I looked on here. What can I do? who do we call?
Built in 2003, builder used Weathershield. One by one they are leaking causing discoloration between the glass. They also mold in the winter. I live in Wisconsin and it’s going to cost a fortune to replace these. I believe mine are vinyl single hung. Had I known they were so bad I would have paid extra for better windows. I called to get them replaced but they said after ten years they only cover fifty percent and you have to pay for labor. They should be ashamed.
We have replaced some on our dime, but more than 50% of ours have broken seals. Seems like ours have lasted a little longer than many but this is still a bad product.
We have 13 Weathershield Windows in our home and 11 are defective. I have them coming to my home for a visit soon. I have a new home and it is only the 2nd winter. They are icing up and are so drafty the wind will put a lighter out.
We are having the same problems and more. We have the Premium Series. What type are yours?

We too have Weather Shield windows and doors. We are 2nd owners of the house and each year the windows look pathetic and very leaky during cold winter weather. Our patio doors also has the leaky gas between the panes. We paid in a home for good quality craftmanship work and not cheap quality products. Who can afford to replace windows every other year? Windows are not like car tires – getting ready for bad weather.
We also have Weather Sheild windows and doors that are ALL rotten! My house is not small either. I have 35 windows (most picture window large) and 4 sets of French doors that are all rotten as well. I live in Tampa Florida and would really appreciate some advice on how to go about getting help with this? Thank you
We, too, have badly leaking Visions 2000 windows, resulting in mold and rot. Also have had to replace several glass units due to argon seal leak causing moisture and clouding between the panes. Still have several more to replace, but company is slow to respond despite replacement being under warranty. Very frustrated with Weather Shield!
