TransUnionTop Class Actions readers are reporting that their settlement checks for the TransUnion Credit Report Class Action Lawsuit Settlement have arrived, and the payout is much larger than promised!

The TransUnion credit report settlement resolves a 2009 class action lawsuit, titled Wang v. Asset Acceptance, LLC, that alleged TransUnion issued credit reports containing inaccurate information about disputed debts. Class Members that had such a report submitted by TransUnion to a third-party between June 22, 2009 and October 15, 2009 had until March 2, 2012 to file a Claim Form to receive free credit monitoring and up to $100 in cash.

However, several Top Class Actions readers are reporting their settlement payout is nearly 50% more than the estimated $100 reward. This is probably because not all Class Members of the TransUnion Credit Report Settlement submitted Claim Forms.

I took the $25.80 check to my bank today and ask them if it was real. I was told that it was good . They have had several to come through with no problem in the past few weeks. I deposited mine.

  2. Steve Stevens says:

I, also was very leery of this check for $25.80. I did deposit in an account with Wells Fargo that did not have a whole lot of money in it on 8-15-14, just to be on the safe side. So far everything has went like it is supposed to. Reading the various responses on this website helped me tremendously.

  3. Borquita LaLaurie says:

I was stunned to receive the $25.80 check. I could find nothing conclusive that the check is not a scam of some kind. Postings on this web page do not alleviate my skepticism because they are all anonymous or under pseudonyms. I am not going to my bank. I am not phoning anyone. That would be too much work and worry for so relatively small a sum. Me, I shredded that check. I think we are all forgetting in this world you cannot get something for nothing.

  4. S Smith says:

I received a check but wasn’t sure it was legitimate. I don’t remember this lawsuit. The check amount is for $25.80. Nowhere near the $100.

    1. D Anthony says:

Called 800# for Huntington Bank, they verified check# acct# and amount of check and said the funds were available. Also the person who signed the checks is an accountant in Oregon who take care of matters of this nature. Hope this helps.

  5. David Lucas says:

I never received my check due possibly to an address change. Any idea of an email or phone number to use?

  6. Sharon P says:

I am on the phone with a supervisor at what I am guessing is the transunion Call center in India and these people don’t understand English and so I am being bounced from person to person. I tried to cash my check this weekend and it says “for deposit only” on the front of it. I don’t have an account that I feel comfortable depositing this check into. And the bank and check cashing place will not cash like his. So I’m on the line with transunion people who are clearly in a call center in India. This is very frustrating. And apparently trans union must have done this on purpose because the next round of checks will only be sent out to those people who negotiated their checks in a timely manner.
The people at this call center have no information and have no idea about any class action law suit… so this is completely pointless. They should have just written “non negotiable” on the checks. So now since I don’t have a bank account and can’t cash this check I will be left out of the next batch of mailed checks?? So it’s okay for Transunion to have sold my information to third parties and I get nothing out of it Because I can’t cash their check? Yea no… that’s not happening.
This is aggravating. If anyone else cashes their check please let me know how u did it without depositing it. Thank you. Oh you can email me personally at phillymommy23@gmail.com

Dear Moderators, I left a quality post here with a website and a phone for inquirers to have more details about the 25.80 check. I do not see that post. Can you let me know why? If you yourselves called the number or visited the site you could see it was legitimate information. Thank you

I, too received a check for $25.80……big difference from the $200 mentioned above. Huntington Bank is known here in FL, but has been bought out by other banks.

  9. Sharon P says:

I also received my check for $25.80. Where did this $200.00 figure come from?

And my check doesn’t say for deposit only anywhere on it.

My wife received one for $25.80 but I never received anything. Anyone know why, and why hers was so small? Do I need to contact someone in order to get my payout?
