According to comments and posts on the Top Class ActionsFacebook page, Class Members who submitted timely and valid claims for the Tom’s of Maine settlement began receiving checks worth as much as $30.59 on June 8, 2016.

If you filed a claim for the Tom’s of Maine class action settlement, keep an eye on your mailbox because checks are on their way!

The Tom’s of Maine settlement resolves allegations that the company mislabeled the following products as “natural” even though they contained “unnatural” substances:

  • Toothpaste
  • Deodorant/Antiperspirant
  • Soap
  • Diaper Cream
  • Lip Balm or Gloss
  • Sunscreen
  • Body Lotion
  • Body Wash
  • Shampoo
  • Hand Cream
  • Mouthwash

Tom’s of Maine denied the allegations but agreed to pay $4.5 million to avoid the expense and risk of trial.

In addition to establishing a Settlement Fund, Tom’s of Maine also agreed to alter its product labels and marketing practices.

Class Members included all U.S. residents who bought a Tom’s of Maine product (listed above) between Mar. 25, 2009 and Sept. 23, 2015.

The deadline to file a claim for the Tom’s of Maine settlement passed on May 7, 2016.

    Got my Toms of Maine check for 30.59 and it BOUNCED. My bank charged me 12$-this is outrageous! What can we do??

    Got the payment and no one will cash the check including Wal-Mart. They said their risk assessment said the check bounced. What the heck?

      My check was returned, I got nothing because there was a problem with the account the check was drawn on. I didnt investigate it further since my payment was less than $10, but still seems odd to me.
