Procter & Gamble Bounty Paper Towels Class Action Lawsuit:
- Who: A paper towel consumer is suing Procter & Gamble over its Bounty paper towels.
- Why: The consumer says she didn’t get as many paper towels in the Bounty roll as advertised on the packaging.
- Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in a California federal court.
A paper towel consumer says Bounty is lying about the number of paper towels in one of its products and lining its pockets in the process, according to a new class action lawsuit.
In a complaint filed against Procter & Gamble (P&G) Apr. 8 in California federal court, the plaintiff claims that she and other consumers nationwide have been ripped off, Legal Newsline reports.
The lawsuit states that the plaintiff bought rolls of Bounty paper towels with packaging that claims 12 “singles plus” select-a-size rolls was equal to 18 regular rolls.
On the packaging, P&G stated a regular roll was equal to 83 sheets. However on the company’s website, P&G claims a regular roll is only 63 sheets, the suit says.
“By short-changing its Select-A-Size multi-roll paper towel packages, P&G has saved millions of dollars in the cost of goods sold and was unjustly enriched by taking payment for more product than it delivers,” the paper towels class action lawsuit says.
Bounty Class Action Seeks To Represent Nationwide Class of Paper Towel Consumers
The plaintiff, a California resident, said she seeks to lead a nationwide class of consumers who were also misled by the claims on the Bounty packaging.
The news comes as Procter & Gamble fights another class action lawsuit alleging it sells a range of Pampers baby diapers advertised as “plant-based” that are in fact mostly made from petrochemicals, a New York mom alleges.
American multinational consumer goods manufacturer Procter and Gamble was founded in 1837 and has grown over the years to own many of the household brands we are all familiar with.
A company that has 21 brands with more than a billion dollars in net sales, the consumer goods producer has found itself facing consumer backlash regarding a variety of the company’s products, which have resulted in a number of class action lawsuits. The Procter and Gamble lawsuit filings follow claims of false advertising, defective products, hazardous medications causing health problems and more.
Meanwhile, Procter & Gamble is not the only company to be accused of stiffing customers.
In 2021, a class action lawsuit accusing Amazon of marking up necessary household items by more than 1,000 percent was expanded to include a nationwide class of shoppers who allegedly paid more during the coronavirus pandemic.
