Olympic Rescue It Resurfacer, a hybrid resurfacing product somewhere between a paint and a stain, has recently been facing many complaints by customers after the product reportedly failed within a matter of months.
Countless homeowners are coming forward with their stories of how Olympic Rescue It Resurfacer has failed them, and they are hoping to gain some kind of compensation for not only the money they spent on the product but also the hours they spent prepping and applying the product per the installation instructions.
Instructions show that Olympic Rescue It Resurfacer can be used on either concrete or wood to not only stain and color these surfaces, but also provide a better texture and grip to the flooring.
Olympic Rescue It Resurfacer labels claim that the product is able to fill in cracks, eliminate splinters, and offer a finish that is textured and perfect for walking on, even with bare feet.
Many consumers have reported that Rescue It! began bubbling and peeling within a matter of months. Far from being protected and aesthetically pleasing, these consumers have been forced to redo their work, removing the defective product, and getting their decks stained again.
Many of these customers prepped and applied the staining products themselves, and their many hours of hard work, as well as the money they spent, was for nothing.
Olympic says that it offers a satisfaction guarantee to the customers who purchase and use Rescue It!, as long as the surface was prepared and the product applied according to instructions provided.
However, the caveat here is that Olympic does not supply a time for which its product is guaranteed to work, or even suggest how long the product is supposed to last. The product label does say that “the lifetime of the product may be limited by the condition of the wood or concrete that is being ‘rescued.’”
Consumers disappointed with this product have said that this statement allows the company more leeway in terms of denying fault with the product.
The company can conceivably claim that, if the consumer does not have proof that the wood or concrete was in good condition prior to using the product, the homeowner is at fault.
Indeed, Olympic Rescue It! Resurfacer customers report that even when the surface was in good condition, and even when they prepped and applied the product as per installation instructions, the product still failed.
Consumers claim that they lost hundreds of dollars due to purchasing and using this product, from the actual product price to the installation itself.
Some customers have already reported that Olympic willingly gave them a refund in response to complaints about their product. However, these consumers also say that the failed product caused extra trouble for them, especially when they believed, according to the product’s advertising, that using the product would save them time.
Some of these consumers are choosing to take legal action against Olympic, and may join an Olympic Rescue It! Resurfacer class action lawsuit in order to seek compensation for this alleged misrepresentation of a product.
