- Where: The recall is active in 23 states across the United States.
Honda is recalling more than 880,000 vehicles due to a defect that could lead to suspension failure.
The affected models include the 2016-2022 Honda Pilot, 2017-2023 Ridgeline, 2019-2023 Passport and 2014-2020 Acura MDX. The recall is in effect across 23 states, including Connecticut, New York and Illinois.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) published the notice on June 4, noting that it affects vehicles sold in states where road salt is commonly used, which can accelerate corrosion.
The recall notice says the rear subframe of these vehicles might corrode at the suspension mounting points, potentially leading to a loss of vehicle control.
Drivers urged to look out for changes in vehicle handling
The Honda recall notice emphasizes the importance of addressing this issue promptly, as the failure of the rear suspension components can significantly impair vehicle handling.
Honda advises owners to be vigilant for any unusual noises or changes in vehicle handling, which could indicate a problem with the suspension system.
The company has instructed its dealers to inspect the rear subframe of the affected vehicles and install a reinforcement kit. If necessary, dealers will repair or replace the subframe components at no cost to the vehicle owners.
In the meantime, owners of the affected vehicles will receive notification letters starting July 7, 2026.
For more information, consumers can contact Honda’s customer service at 1-888-234-2138 or search their vehicle identification number on the NHTSA website.
Honda says it has not received any reports of injury related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
Earlier this month, Honda recalled nearly 60,000 vehicles, including 2024 Acura ZDX and 2024-2025 Honda Prologue models due to a rearview camera error that could increase the risk of a crash.
