Honda Civic Sun Visor Class Action Settlement
By Mike Holter
Â
The Honda Civic sun visor settlement will resolve a class action lawsuit, entitled Cooper v. American Honda Motor Co., Inc., that alleges the sun visors on some Honda Civics are defective, causing them to split apart, which may impair their function. The class action lawsuit also alleges that Honda should have corrected the defective sun visors or should have disclosed the defect at the time of sale. Honda denies it did anything wrong, but has agreed to a class action settlement to end litigation.
Class Members of the Honda Civic sun visor class action settlement are all U.S. residents who are current or former owners or lessees of one of the Civic models listed below:

In addition, Honda has agreed to reimburse Class Members for out-of-pocket expenses incurred prior to the Effective Date of the settlement for the repair or replacement of a sun visor or sun visors on Class Vehicles. A Class Member is eligible to get a CASH REIMBURSEMENT if:
• The Class Member has paid out-of-pocket to repair or replace the sun visor or sun visors in his or her Class Vehicle prior to the Effective Date of the settlement;
• The cost of repair or replacement was not previously reimbursed by insurance, warranty, or goodwill; and
• The Class Member mails a claim form within two years from the date of the sun visor repair or replacement, or within 90 days of the Effective Date of the settlement, whichever period of time is longer.

I need to sun visors as well both of mine have come apart 2007 Honda civil beige
So since I did not know of the settlement, I am just SOL! WOW Honda! And shame on the dealership that had me pay for it knowing of the settlement.
I just read how this problem was supposed to be corrected by 2011. I have a 2011 Civic and both visors have done the same thing. You can’t see out of them. Always hitting my head. Urghhhhh! Honda, you aren’t that good anymore!
My driver sun visor broke, wouldn’t stay up with shattering the whole plastic area. Finally replace it, replaced it for 65$ at a Honda dealership. Ordered the piece through their parts department. A year later having same issue with both visors again. It seems to be a heat issue. If the car gets hot during summer don’t move the visors until the inner temp of the car has cooled down to a bearable temp for yourself. Don’t have this issue during winter etc. work fine when it’s not sweltering inside the car.

Both Drivers side and Passenger side are prolapsed, will not close
had to tear off passenger side to see
I have a 2007 honda civic si that has the same problem with the visor, both side. Just barely got broke. What can I do to fix it?
I own a 2007 Honda Civic & was not aware of any recalls or class actions in regard the drivers side sun visor. My sunvisor popped open 2 weeks ago, on its own causing it to hang & obstuct my view almost causing me to have a motor vechicle accident. Not only is my sunvisor damaged, my airbag light is on! My current situation is that I’m at the Honda Dealer Service Department, on Hillside Avenue in Jamaica, pissed off because they want to charge me $129.00 just to look at my car & additional $$ to replace their defected part & more $$ for sensors!! Claiming my sensors maybe out, because of the many pot holes in NYC!!
I’m having the same exact issue with my 2010 Honda civic. My driver side visor has split near the hinge and the visor no longer stays in place. I understand he class action lawsuit was for 06 thru 09 models, but is there a current updated status for 8th gen civics including 2010 models?
2008 honda civic. My visor just recently broke. Could I just show up to honda and say you have to fix this?
The driver side sun visor broke on my 2010 honda civic and the dealer says it cost $100.00 to replace.
I have a 2007 civic, I don’t know if I still qualify for the recall. VIN:1HGFA165X7L102920
I would like to replace the sunvisor..
Thank you

just bought one yesterday for 67.11 … but they say there are no recalls on it… I wouldnt recommend the dealership I bought it from. They were rude. had to wait a long time at service and for service advisor to inquire about the recall
