Glucosamine Supplement Class Action Settlement

By Mike Holter

Osteo Bi-FlexSeveral companies that manufacture and sell joint health supplements containing glucosamine and/or chondroitin have reached a $2 million class action lawsuit settlement over allegations they lied about the health benefits of their products.

If you purchased a joint health supplement containing glucosamine from Rexall Sundown Inc., NBTY Inc. or their affiliates, you may be eligible to claim up to $50 cash from the class action settlement. Dozens of glucosamine and/or chondroitin supplements are covered by the settlement, including those sold under the CVS, Equate, Equaline, Kirkland, Kroger, Osteo Bi-Flex, Safeway, Target and Walgreens brand names.

The glucosamine settlement will resolve numerous class action lawsuits filed since 2011 that accuse the defendants of making false, deceptive and misleading labeling claims about the benefits of glucosamine and/or chondroitin.

Rexall denies all allegations of wrongdoing or liability and stands by its glucosamine products and their efficacy, but has agreed to a $2 million class action lawsuit settlement to end the litigation.

Class Members of the glucosamine supplement settlement include all U.S. consumers who purchased for personal use certain joint health dietary supplements sold under the following brand names between 2005 and 2013:

Class Members that submit a valid Claim Form postmarked or submitted online by December 3, 2013 will be eligible to receive a cash payment of $5 per bottle purchased, up to a maximum of 10 ($50), with Proof of Purchase. Adequate proof includes a cash register receipt, an intact box or bottle that clearly displays a readable UPC code and lot number, or similar documentation that identifies the Covered Product and date and location of purchase.

If you can’t provide Proof of Purchase, you can still submit a claim under penalty of perjury confirming your purchase and receive $3 per bottle purchased, up to a maximum of 4 bottles ($12).

Your refund may be more or less, depending on how many valid claims are filed.

This is all bulls** from lawyers so THEY can make the money.
Glucosamine works, its not supposed to make miraculous healing. it SUPPORTS health joints! It means it is to be used mainly as preventable means, i see people that busted their joins with overweight, bad posture, bad eating habits and now wants a miracle pill which will deliver them from their long years of stupidity and misuse of the joints. WAKE UP BUNCH OF MORONS. Prevention is the way, now that you have your joint busted, don’t blame others. I have used Glucosamine for a long time, i take good care of my overall health and my joints . i can run 5 miles in less than 40 minutes with nothing bothering me, and I am 42. Wake up and use your example to help others how to prevent joint problems by taking early action, $50 miserable bucks will not do anything for you!!

  5. Bill says:

I started taking it at age 51, because I thought it would keep my knees running great forever ( nothing wrong with my joints). Funny how a month later I blew my knee up with just some light jogging ( Severely tore both sides of my meniscus up)
Taking the Glucosamine for a month was the only thing different I did, so I have to believe this stuff caused my injury. No refund of $10 will solve that for me>
Good luck to those of you still taking it

Who keeps receipts of vitamins and supplements, especially for years, including the bottles! These class action lawsuits are of more benefit to the attorneys.

What I don’t get is the fact that the post card came to my address, however, when I filled out the claim form, it kept telling me the address was incorrect? What’s this all about?

  9. Ann says:

Does any one know how to attach the receipts. We have tried several times and were unsuccessful. this seems a scam to me since there is no real way to attach any of the supporting documents.

  10. Kathy Houy says:
