The Sales Mentor refunds
The FTC sent a second round of refund payments to consumers who paid for telemarketing training programs sold by The Sales Mentor.
The Sales Mentor settled an FTC complaint alleging it misled consumers by promising they could earn substantial income in telemarketing sales through its programs.
The FTC previously sent more than $802,000 in refund payments in January 2025 and, this time around, sent 1,623 payments totaling more than $136,000 to consumers who accepted their first payment.
The second round of refund payments was sent because there was money remaining in the settlement fund. Consumers who received a refund check are asked to cash it within 90 days, while those who received a PayPal payment are asked to accept it within 30 days.
AH Media Group refunds
The FTC sent Zelle payments to consumers who were allegedly charged for “free trial” offers for cosmetic and weight loss supplements.
AH Media Group agreed to resolve FTC claims that consumers who signed up for its advertised “free trial” offers were later charged approximately $90 for the products.
According to the FTC, AH Media Group also enrolled customers in unwanted subscription plans that came with additional monthly charges.
The FTC previously sent refund checks in June 2022 and PayPal payments in February 2026, resulting in more than $5.2 million in refunds.
This round of Zelle payments was sent to consumers who did not cash their check or accept the PayPal payment. Consumers who get a Zelle payment will have the money deposited directly into their bank account with a note about the settlement.
Trend Deploy refunds
The FTC sent more than $672,000 in refund checks to consumers who bought facemasks and other personal protective equipment from online marketer Trend Deploy during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Trend Deploy agreed to settle FTC allegations that it promised expedited shipping for facemasks and other personal protective equipment but failed to deliver orders on time, sometimes sent lower-quality products and did not offer cancellations or refunds.
The FTC sent a total of 9,419 refund checks. Consumers who receive a refund check are asked to cash it within 90 days.
Handy Technologies settlement
The FTC sent more than $2.7 million in refund checks to individuals who worked for Handy Technologies sometime between January 2019 and November 2024.
Handy, owned by Angi Services, agreed to settle claims by the FTC and the New York Attorney General that it misled workers about how much they could earn through its gig platform.
According to the FTC and New York Attorney General, Handy also failed to clearly disclose and explain certain fees and fines, such as charging a gig worker for incomplete jobs if a customer did not properly cancel or let them do the work.
The FTC sent 62,893 refund checks in total. Consumers who receive a refund check are asked to cash it within 90 days.
University of Phoenix settlement
The FTC sent Zelle payments to certain University of Phoenix students who paid to attend the school after seeing allegedly deceptive advertising.
The University of Phoenix agreed to settle a complaint brought against it by the FTC over claims it attracted students by falsely claiming to work with employers such as Microsoft, Twitter, Adobe and Yahoo.
According to the FTC, the university further misled potential students into believing it tailored its curriculum for the job needs of the companies, as a way to create job opportunities.
The FTC previously sent refund payments in March 2021, July 2023 and September 2025 — totaling more than $49 million in refunds. This round of Zelle payments were sent to students who did not cash their check or accept the PayPal payment.
Consumers who get a Zelle payment will have the money deposited directly into their bank account with a note about the settlement.
Ring refunds
The FTC sent Zelle payments to eligible people who had an account with the home security camera company Ring.
Ring agreed to settle FTC claims that it failed to protect customer accounts by giving employees excessive access to customer videos and leaving accounts vulnerable to hacking.
As part of the settlement, Ring agreed to pay money, delete videos it was not authorized to keep and adopt stronger privacy and security measures, while the FTC distributed refunds to eligible customers.
The FTC already sent $5.4 million in payments and refunds in April 2024 and in August 2025. Now, the FTC is sending Zelle payments to people who did not cash their check or accept their PayPal payment.
If you get a Zelle payment, the payment will be deposited directly into your bank account with a note about the settlement.
