Ford has announced a recall affecting nearly 48,000 vehicles from its 2025 model year lineup due to a critical issue with the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve. This defect can result in a sudden loss of drive power, posing a significant risk of crashes.
The recall was officially issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on March 3, 2026. It involves various models, including the 2025 Ford Ranger, Lincoln Nautilus, Mustang, Maverick, Explorer, Ford Escape, Lincoln Corsair, Bronco Sport and Bronco.
According to the recall, the EGR valve may fail, leading to a loss of drive power, which could increase the risk of a crash.
Recall: Ford working to fix the issue by September
Ford is actively working on developing a remedy for the EGR valve issue. However, as of now, no repair solution is available. The company plans to notify vehicle owners once a fix has been determined.
Owners of the affected vehicles will receive two notifications from Ford. The first letter, informing them of the safety risk, is being sent out this week. A second letter, detailing the final remedy, is expected to be dispatched in September 2026.
“Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332,” the recall notice advises, providing a direct line for inquiries.
The vehicle identification numbers (VINs) involved in this Ford recall became searchable on the NHTSA website as of March 4.
For further information regarding the Ford recall, consumers can visit the NHTSA website or contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford’s internal recall number for this issue is 26S10.
Ford says it has not received any reports of injuries related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the Ford recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
Late last year, Ford recalled nearly 273,000 vehicles due to a defect in the integrated park module, offering an updated software solution.

It’s about time someone held Ford responsible for the sudden, immediate, & total loss of power that plagued Ford Escape owners. I am submitting my sister’s name as she is the owner of a Ford Escape that not only put her life in danger when she exited from a parking lot onto a major highway only to find she had no power to accelerate into oncoming traffic. She was a sitting duck but managed to roll the car off to a breakdown area. Her beautiful automobile was rendered useless as Ford did not have a fix for that particular motor; nor did they offer a recall. It was a shock that a fairly new model vehicle with no sign of wear was rendered a total loss. She & the millions of Ford Escape owners of certain years that bore the brunt of losing their vehicle to Ford’s egregious mistake with ever producing such a major & costly error.
I have a Ford escape titanium 2017 and I’ve had problems with this car and the radiator coolant leaked into my motor because of faulty seal and it ruined my motor credit every thing and the bank was horrible can I please get in on the class action suit for this. I do not think this is right. The Ford manufacturer acknowledged the damage and now I’m stuck with ruined credit and no car. I’m elderly in ssi and I was done wrong. The bank never once reported my payments which were paid on time for a little over 3 years . I put $4 000 down on this car by our figuring this car is paid off and they are trying to rob me. Also they have put on my credit as a charge off and I have not received an 1099 for this or anything. This was wrong and I feel they both need to pay. Ford manufacturer and Exeter finance. Can you please help me
