Good morning everyone!
I’ve spent my morning speaking to some of my favorite people—my team, and our clients. Yes, I know, it’s a ‘holiday,’ but what I’ve found as an entrepreneur is if you don’t work for the government, you’re working holidays!
In fact, when you work for Top Class Actions, you don’t get holidays. Yep, we crack the whip! No vacation or sick days either. Nope! Everyone must work. All. Of. The. Time. Must be a terrible place to work, right? Nope. Because we stick with the mantra of ‘get your stuff done, Scott leaves you alone.’ That means, if you want to take off early on Friday to go to Prescott/Sedona/Somewhere prettier than Phoenix ( Bree ) you can.
Just make sure you’re available and/or give us a heads up. Want to take a week off for a cruise/Disneyland/ACTUAL VACATION? No problem, just make sure your work is covered. As long as you’re not doing it all of the time, it’s all good. Oh, and sick time? If you’re sick, recover! We’ll cover you. But, since you work from home, it’s rare to be so sick that you can’t spend 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes in the evening handling ‘hot’ issues, even if that just means replying to me or someone else on the team saying, ‘I’m SICK! LEAVE ME ALONE! I’M TAKING A NAP! More tomorrow!’
That’s hard thing about working from home. Even when you’re ‘off’ you’re still in your ‘office.’ It’s a big reason why I take off for lunch most days. I need to get out of the ‘office,’ get some socialization some way other than by phone, instant message or email, and see the sun! Now that it’s getting pretty darn nice during the day I’ll be taking more walks and quick bike rides to unwind. Then it’s back to work. Pretty darn great, especially for someone who hates to commute!
