USAA class action lawsuit overview:

The United Services Automobile Association (USAA) is facing a class action lawsuit claiming that it uses a third party company that improperly reduces or denies claims related to automobile personal injury protection and medical payments.
USAA is accused of using third-party Auto Injury Solutions as part of a multi-faceted USAA claims scheme to implement a computer program called Medical Bill Audit (MBA) for denying claims.
“The MBA process is designed, largely through automated computer processes, to categorically and systematically, without human input, eliminate, abate and/or reduce the amount USAA pays for its insured’s health care expenses based upon its treatment of various codes,” the USAA lawsuit says.
USAA customers claim insurance adjusters never look at denied claims
The USAA lawsuit plaintiffs Caryn Jennings and Tricia Harder are both Washington residents who had automobile accidents and are part of a class stating that USAA did not investigate their claims and instead used Auto Injury Solutions’ computer model to deny or reduce claims.
USAA has used the program to avoid having a USAA insurance adjustor review the claim or conduct an investigation into the validity of those claims, the USAA class action says.
A September class action lawsuit claims USAA did not properly protect the personal information of clients, resulting in the USAA data breach.

You are correct, they outsource their claims to companies overseas. The same thing happened to me. I had to pay out of pocket and use my own health insurance for a medical claim that I was not at fault for. I fought with USAA for months on this claim. I also have additional insurance specifically for medical claims and they told me my accident didn’t qualify me to use it. Why am I paying for it then?

I recently had tornado damage my property & USAA used a 3rd Party to appraise the damage. It was a nightmare trying to get a proper settlement.
Sounds like USAA uses a similar 3rd party software system to attempt to grossly under pay.
USAA is the worst insurance company to deal with the client total my vehicle and I had police report saying their client was at fault. They under paid me. Add me. They staff is so disrespectful and I hated my experience with this company. USAA ARE SCAMMERS.

I had hail damage to my car in July. They had my car for 6 wks because the ins didn’t want to pay. I had 8 000 in damage to a 2016 Camaro that they then told me it cost more to fix so they totaled it out. I bought it back. It’s worth a lot more than 8 000 ipayed the money to get it fixed. They are supposed to help veterans. They didn’t help me.
Same here, denying a medical payment claim for an accident that the other driver was faulted in. Worst insurance company ever.
