Geico agreed to a $5.1 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims that it failed to properly calculate and pay taxes when paying claims for auto total loss.

The settlement benefits Georgia Geico auto insurance policyholders who had a covered total loss auto claim between April 29, 2014, and Dec. 31, 2019, that resulted in a total loss payment that did not include a full payment of title ad valorem tax (TAVT).

Plaintiffs in the class action lawsuit claim Geico violated Georgia law by failing to include TAVT in its auto total loss payments. TAVT is a one-time tax paid on a title that replaces sales tax and annual motor vehicle taxes in Georgia.

Geico is an insurance company that sells auto, homeowners, renter’s, motorcycle, boat and business policies.

Geico hasn’t admitted wrongdoing but agreed to a $5.1 million settlement to resolve the insurance class action lawsuit.

Under the settlement terms, class members can receive a cash payment based on the applicable tax rate at the date of their losses. Class members who have already received partial payments from the insurance process may have their settlement payments reduced, and those who have already received a full tax payment will not receive any funds.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is May 3, 2024.

The final approval hearing for the Geico total loss settlement is scheduled for June 6, 2024.

The deadline to file a claim with the settlement is May 20, 2024.

It appears the same attorneys that stole mine and hundreds of other class members’ settlement money, works all the same cases. WATCH OUT, YOU WILL GET YOUR AWARD STOLEN BY THE CLASS COUNSEL & THEIR CLAIMS SETTLEMENTS ADMINISTRATOR, LIKE WE DID IN THE GEICO TOTAL LOSS CASE IN CALIFORNIA. THEY’LL LIE AND SAY YOU’RE IN TWO SETTLEMENT CLASSES AND SEND YOU A SMALL AMOUNT. YOU CAN FIND ME ON FB UNDER DREA DGORGE. ILL TELL YOU ANYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW. JACOB PHILLIPS HAS ALREADY THREATENED ME. HE NEEDS TO FESS UP ABOUT THE KICKBACKS THE ATTORNEYS AND THEIR CLAIMS ADMIN GOT GOING ON WITH GEICO.

Geico is a terrible company. I worked for them 2 years and the are completely micromanaged and could care less about their employees or customers and I believe they are headed towards bankruptcy. The people who provide their roadside assistance aren’t even getting paid and are refusing services.
