Wisconsin meat market Prem Meats has issued a Class I recall for some of its packaged pork and beef products over concerns they were produced without an approved formula and without having been inspected.

The recall, announced Monday by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP), includes meat products sold at Prem Meats retail store in Prairie du Sac.

This is a Class I recall, initiated based on evidence collected during routine inspection activities. Evidence shows that the products were produced without an approved formula and without the benefit of inspection,” the DATCP said.

Packaged pork and beef products included in the recall are Prem Meats’ bacon wrapped pork loin, bacon wrapped beef tenderloin, and pork squealers, all of which are sold in one or two pieces in vacuum-sealed packages.

No illnesses reported in connection with Prem Meats recall

There have been no illnesses reported that would be connected to the Prem Meats recall, according to the DATCP.

The DATCP is urging any consumer who purchased the recalled Prem Meats products to discard them, and for anyone who experiences signs of potential foodborne illness to contact their doctor.

Individuals who have more questions about the recall can contact Gavin Prem, Prem Meats directly by phone at 608-588-2164.

In another recall involving meat, Elkhorn Valley Packing initiated a recall for 3,463 pounds of its boneless beef chuck earlier this month over concerns it was potentially contaminated with E.coli bacteria.
