Toyota recalls 2022-2023 Tundra vehicles due to potential fuel leak

Toyota announced a recall affecting 168,000 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vehicles due to a potential fuel leak, which could lead to a fire.

This recall, which the Toyota website published Aug. 10, specifically applies to certain 2022 and 2023 model-year Toyota Tundra and Tundra Hybrid vehicles.

The issue lies in these vehicles’ plastic fuel tubes, which can shift and contact the brake lines, leading to a fuel leak, the Toyota recall notice states. This fuel leak, when exposed to an ignition source, could pose a serious fire risk.

To resolve the problem, Toyota is offering a complimentary replacement of the problematic fuel tube and installation of additional clamps for all affected vehicles, according to the Tundra recall.

The Children’s Place initiates jean recall due to choking hazard

The Children’s Place initiated a recall for two styles of baby and toddler jeans due to a potential choking hazard.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website published the recall Aug. 10. It affects approximately 97,400 pairs of Baby and Toddler Boy Basic Stretch Straight Leg Jeans, sold in sizes ranging from 6-9 months to 5T in the United States, along with around 1,800 pairs in Canada.

The metal snaps on these jeans have the potential to detach, thereby posing a choking hazard to young children, the recall notice states.

The company received one report of snaps detaching from the jeans but no reports of injuries.

The Children’s Place sold the jeans exclusively at its stores nationwide for about $25, with sales spanning from September 2022 to March 2023 for style No. 3022341 and vendor No. 7000541, and from January to June 2023 for style No. 3022342 and vendor No. 7000541.

To mitigate any potential risks, consumers should stop using these jeans immediately and return them to any The Children’s Place store for a full refund.

Gree announces recall for dehumidifiers due to overheating, fire risk

Gree initiated a recall of over 1.5 million dehumidifier units due to the risk of overheating and fire hazards.

The CPSC website posted the recall Aug. 16. It affects 42 different dehumidifier models, with brand names such as Kenmore, GE, SoleusAir, Norpole and Seabreeze, all manufactured between January 2011 and February 2014.

The dehumidifiers can overheat, smoke and catch fire, thereby posing substantial fire and burn risks to consumers. Gree received reports of 23 fires, 688 instances of overheating and $168,000 in property damage associated with the recalled dehumidifiers.

Consumers should stop using the recalled dehumidifiers immediately, unplug them and contact Gree to arrange a refund.

Costco initiates recall for Ubio Labs power bank

Costco issued a recall affecting approximately 350,000 Ubio Labs power banks due to concerns of overheating, which could potentially lead to a fire hazard.

The CPSC website published the recall Aug. 17. It pertains to Ubio Labs power banks, available in both single and double packs, with model No. PWB1071 printed on the back.

As outlined in the recall notice, the power banks can overheat and ignite, posing a significant fire risk. Costco received three reports of fires associated with these power banks, including one occurring on a commercial flight. These incidents resulted in four cases of smoke inhalation and one instance of a minor burn injury to passengers, the recall notice says.

Consumers should stop using the power banks and contact Costco for a full refund. Ubio Labs is no longer in operation. Costco reached out to all known purchasers directly to ensure they are aware of this recall.

Subaru Crosstrek, Impreza models recalled due to short circuit issue

Subaru initiated a recall impacting more than 35,000 of its 2024 Crosstrek and Impreza vehicles due to concerns of a potential short-circuit issue, which elevates the risk of a crash.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website published the recall Aug. 4. It pertains to 35,357 Subaru 2024 Crosstrek and Impreza vehicles.

There is insufficient clearance room within these vehicles, which can allow the instrument panel harness to contact the steering beam bracket, leading to damage to the wire insulation and triggering a short circuit, the recall notice states. This short circuit could result in a loss of drive power, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

Authorized dealers will inspect the harness and install an additional clamp on the steering beam bracket, according to the Subaru recall notice. If any damage is detected, dealers will apply protective tape or replace the instrument panel harness as deemed necessary.
