About 23,000 Super Jumper trampolines are being recalled after nearly 100 reports of a defect that causes the welds on the metal railings to break.
Although only four trampoline users have reported minor injuries due to the defect, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a fast track recall of Super Jumper 14-foot trampolines, as well as 14-foot and 16-foot combo trampolines with enclosures.
According to the voluntary recall announcement, “Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled trampolines and contact Super Jumper for a free repair kit.”
The repair kit reportedly includes reinforcement clamps that will cover the welded joints.
Super Jumper’s recall information sheet states that “When the clamps are installed, the trampoline’s operation will be satisfactory, so a replacement trampoline or a refund will not be provided. Installation of the clamps is as easy as the original assembly of the trampoline.”
The Super Jumper website states that issuing repair kits may take between one to three months.
The trampolines which cost between $200 – $400 were sold online through Wayfair.com, Amazon.com, Hayneedle.com, and Overstock.com. The Super Jumper trampolines have a black mat with gold springs and a blue pad which covers the springs. The 14-foot Super Jumper trampolines have six metal legs, while the 16-foot with the enclosures have eight metal legs.
While 23,000 Super Jumper trampolines are being recalled in the U.S., another 860 are being recalled in Canada.
Super Jumper trampoline owners are encouraged to contact the company directly at 866-757-3636 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday for a repair kit.
