  • Why: The tomato recall comes as the tomatoes were shown to have undeclared sulfites in analysis from New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors.
  • Where: The sun-dried tomato recall impacts tomatoes distributed across the United States.

Global Veg Corp. has issued a recall of its Aviator Sundried Tomato Halves after the tomatoes were found to have undeclared sulfites.

The affected lots of recalled tomatoes are marked as 5-pound packages of Aviator Sundried Tomato Halves with a Lot No. 060923/1.

People who have a severe sensitivity to sulfites are at risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they eat the tomatoes, the recall says.

The tomatoes come in 5-pound vacuum bags. The issue was discovered during analysis from New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors.

Further analysis by the food laboratory showed the sulfite-containing product was distributed in packages that did not declare the sulfites.
