  • Why: The lot of chicken fried rice tested positive for listeria.
  • Where: The chicken fried rice listeria recall is valid across the United States.

Garland Ventures is recalling 13,842 pounds of its ready-to-eat chicken fried rice products after it tested positive for listeria.

The issue was found in a review of test results by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The chicken fried rice listeria recall includes a product labeled “Chicken Fried Rice Diced Chicken Meat with Vegetables and Rice in a Savory Soy Sauce” with a lot code of WK10CFR and a best-if-used-by-date of 11/10/2024.

The recalled lot, which was distributed across the United States, has an establishment number marked “EST. P-31993” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Discard or return chicken fried rice but do not eat product, FSIS says

The FSIS says it has not received any reports of illness related to the recall so far. The company is not  facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

The chicken fried rice should be thrown away or returned for a refund to the place of purchase, FSIS says.

Consumers can contact Garland account managers Evelyn Tsai or Phoebe Hsu by phone at 972-485-8878 or by email at evelyntsai@ballyplus.com or phoebehsu@ballyplus.com.

Tyson Foods conducted a November recall of around 30,000 pounds of its fully cooked, breaded, dinosaur-shaped chicken patty products over concerns they were contaminated with metal pieces.
