Ross Stores recalled 5,800 scented candles as they can combust, shattering the glass around the candle and posing an injury risk.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission published the candle recall notice Jan. 19. It applies to the companyโ€™s Taylor and Finch 6-Wick Scented Candles in the scents Spiced Apple & Rosewood and Cedarwood & Clove.

According to the Ross recall notice, the product can combust while lit, causing the glass container to break, posing fire and injury.

Already Ross received five reports of candles combusting and the glass container breaking, including one report of minor injury, the company says in the notice.ย

Ross is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

Consumers should immediately stop using candles, Ross recall notice says

Ross sold the candles at its stores nationwide from Aug. 2022 through Oct. 2022 for about $17.

They are sold in 44-ounce red or white glass containers. The scent of the candles and โ€œTaylor and Finchโ€ are printed on a label on the side of the glass container. The SKU number โ€” 400244981194 or 400244981200 โ€” is located on the price label on the bottom of the container.ย ย

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled candles and return them to a Ross location for a full refund, the candle recall states.

In related news, last year,, Anthropologie recalled 19,380 of its Anecdote Autumn Glass Candles with double wicks due to their propensity to have higher-than-usual flames, causing the glass container to break apart and posing fire and laceration hazards.
