Best Buy recall overview:

  • Why: The air fryers can overheat, causing the handles to melt or break, posing fire and burn hazards.
  • Where: The air fryer recall is valid in the United States and Canada.

Best Buy is recalling more than 287,000 Insignia air fryers and air fryer ovens because they can overheat, causing the handle to break and leading to fire and burn hazard.

The overheating issue can also cause the air fryers’ glass door to shatter, posing a laceration hazard, the air fryer recall says.

The air fryer recall covers 187,400 air fryers sold in the United States and 99,900 sold in Canada.

The Best Buy recall includes model numbers NS-AF34D2, NS-AF5DSS2, NS-AF5MSS2, NS-AF8DBD2, NS-AF10DBK2 and NS-AF10DSS2.

The air fryers have an Insignia label on the front, and have a product rating label on the underside that includes the Best Buy Insignia air fryer model number.

6 reports of fires caused by overheating air fryers, Best Buy recall says

Best Buy says it has received 24 reports of overheating, melting or glass shattering incidents. No injuries have been reported related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Customers should stop using Best Buy Insignia air fryers immediately and go to the recall website to submit photos of the air fryer, model number and receipt, and to receive instructions on how to destroy the product, the Best Buy recall says.

Customers can receive a refund check or Best Buy store credit worth the price on the purchase receipt or the average sales price if no receipt is provided. The air fryers should not be returned to Best Buy stores.

Best Buy can be reached at 800-566-7498 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday.

Best Buy also issued a similar recall in 2022 for about 635,000 of its Insignia Air Fryers and Air Fryer Ovens over concerns they can overheat and cause a fire and burn hazard.

Add me please. I bought an air fryer
from best buy after the store screwed me on a return and gave a useless certificate instead of my cash back and I have an insignia air fryer from them that was never opened and now I am afraid to even use it and the store would not refund
