Lowe’s hammock stand recall overview:

  • Who: The Hammock Source recalled a hammock stand sold exclusively at Lowe’s.
  • Why: The stands can break, injuring users.
  • Where: The recall is effective in the United States.

A hammock stand sold exclusively at Lowe’s is being recalled after the manufacturer received nine reports of the stands breaking at the base with two reports of scrapes and bruises so far.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission posted the recall notice on its website July 21.

The recall applies to about 32,500 Key West Knock Down Hammock Stands distributed by The Hammock Source and sold exclusively at Lowe’s.

The weld attaching the stand to the base can break, posing a fall hazard, the company says.

Lowe’s hammock stand recall says consumers should immediately stop using product

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled hammock stands and contact The Hammock Source for instructions on receiving a full refund,” the Lowe’s hammock stand recall notice says. “The firm is contacting all known purchasers.”

The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes end in class action lawsuits.

The product, hammock stands made of eight pieces of steel tubing powder coated in bronze, was sold at Lowe’s stores nationwide and online at Lowes.com from October 2020 through May 2022 for about $120.

Earlier this year, Lowe’s was hit with a class action lawsuit alleging it denies employment based on the results of background checks without first giving job applicants a copy of the report or the chance to explain.

And in February, Lowe’s agreed to a class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims it failed to honor lower prices in a website pricing error.
