Land Rover recall overview:

  • Who: Land Rover has recalled more than 50,000 of its 2018-2022 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles.
  • Why: Water can enter the rearview camera and cause it to display a distorted image, or not to display an image at all.
  • Where: The Land Rover rearview camera recall affects vehicles across the United States.

Land Rover is recalling about 59,000 of its Range Rovers because water can enter the rearview camera and cause it to not function properly.

Land Rover reported the issue to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on Jan. 18, which released a notice of the Land Rover recall four days later on Jan. 22.

The recall covers 58,752 of Land Rover’s 2018-2022 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport vehicles.

According to the recall notice, the Land Rover rearview camera issue can cause the camera to display a distorted image, or not to display any image at all. This can increase the risk of injury or crash and violates federal safety regulations.

Land Rover recall notification letters coming by March 8

Land Rover did not say if it has not received any reports of injuries related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

The automaker expects to send out notification letters for the Land Rover rearview camera recall by March 8, 2024.

Land Rover dealerships will inspect affected vehicles and either add a new seal to the rearview camera or replace it entirely, the recall notice says. Dealers will conduct the repairs and replacements free of charge.

Owners can contact Land Rover customer service about the recall at 1-800-637-6837. The company’s recall number is N778. Owners can also call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.

Land Rover issued a separate Range Rover recall in April 2023 for 500 seven-seat vehicles over concerns some of the seats may not have been properly secured.
