  • Where: The Frigidaire Gas Laundry Center recall is active in the United States.
  • What are my options: Macy’s carries many laundry options.

Electrolux Group recalled more than 13,000 Frigidaire Gas Laundry Center products, as a defect in the dryer can lead to a safety hazard, with the company so far receiving 23 reports of fires caused by the product.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published the recall on its website July 13. The recall applies to about 13,600 Frigidaire Gas Laundry Centers with model numbers FFLG4033QW and FFLG4033QT.

According to the recall, the felt seal on the dryer drum of the laundry centers can be folded inward, which can lead to lint accumulation, creating a fire hazard.

So far, Electrolux received 23 reports of fire and one report of a smoke inhalation injury in relation to the recalled product.

The company is not facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.

Stop using dryer immediately, Frigidaire recall advises

Consumers should immediately stop using the Frigidaire Gas Laundry Center and contact Electrolux Group for a free inspection, repair and lint removal service, the recall notice says.

Consumers can continue to use the washer, which is unaffected by the issue.

Meanwhile, Electrolux is contacting known purchasers directly. The product was sold at Lowe’s, Home Depot and other independent appliance stores nationwide from October 2014 to April 2018 for about $1,400.

Electrolux has faced recalls and lawsuits in the past.

In May, an insurance company sued Electrolux, claiming the appliance company is responsible for a fire caused by a recalled dehumidifier in a Pennsylvania church.
