Costco Dorm Room Snack Box containing Jif peanut butter recall overview:

  • Who: Costco recalled some of its Dorm Room Snack Boxes.
  • Why: The snack boxes contain peanut butter dipping cups with recalled Jif peanut butter.
  • Where: The recall is effective in the United States.

Costco is the latest retail giant to issue a recall over a product that contains recalled Jif peanut butter.

In a recent Costco alert to members who bought the affected product, the company said it recalled its Dorm Room Snack Boxes sold between April 20 and May 23, 2022.

The recalled item is a combination of 70 snacks covering multiple brands and products and includes four Jif To Go Peanut Butter Dipping Cups, 1.5 oz.

The J.M. Smucker Company and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a recall of select Jif Peanut Butter products due to potential salmonella contamination in late May.

“Do not eat the affected Jif To Go product; please throw the unused product away,” the Costco recall notice states.

Jif peanut butter recall affects multiple products

As of May 25, the FDA’s outbreak investigation revealed a total of 16 salmonella illnesses traced back to Jif peanut butter 12 states.

A consumer filed a class action lawsuit earlier this month against Smucker in response to the Jif peanut butter salmonella contamination recall, claiming Smucker misled the public about the safety of its Jif peanut butter products.

Smucker’s Jif peanut butter recall has already led to a number of other product recalls, including ones initiated by Country Fresh, Mary’s Harvest, Garden Cut and Coblentz.

If you suffered from Salmonella after eating peanut butter from Smucker, you can join a Jif peanut butter recall lawsuit investigation (links to paid attorney advertising).
