BlendJet blenders recall overview:

  • Who: BlendJet recalled 4.8 million of its BlendJet 2 portable blenders along with an additional 117,000 in Canada.
  • Why: The blenders’ blades can break inside the machine and it can overheat or lead to a fire, the blender recall says.
  • Where: The BlendJet recall is effective in both the United States and Canada.

BlendJet announced a recall for 4.8 million of its BlendJet 2 portable blenders along with an additional 117,000 in Canada because the blenders’ blades can break and the unit can overheat, leading to a fire hazard.

The BlendJet recall is for blenders with the first four digits of the serial number from 5201-5542.  The serial numbers are printed on the bottom of the base along with “blendjet2” and “The Original Portable Blender,” the recall says.

BlendJet sold the blenders at Costco, Walmart, Target and other stores across the United States and at blendjet.com.

Consumers should stop using the recalled BlendJet blenders and contact the company for a free base unit replacement.

“Consumers will need to remove and cut the rubber seal from the base of their recalled blender into three or more pieces and upload or email a photo showing the serial number on the bottom of the unit and its rubber seal in pieces to BlendJet at blendjet.com/safetyandrecall or safety@blendjet.com,” the BlendJet recall says.

BlendJet receives 329 reports of broken blades

BlendJet says it received 329 reports of the blades breaking while in use with 17 reports of overheating or fires that led to $150,000 in property damage claims along with 49 reports of minor burns and one report of laceration injury related to the recall.

The company is facing legal action over the recall. A class action lawsuit alleges the BlendJet2 blenders have a defect that causes the device to break or otherwise stop working within a short period of time.

Consumers can reach BlendJet from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET Monday-Friday at (844) 334-0562 or online.

I’m thankful that I did not serve smoothies to my grandchildren and that they were not injured by blades. Company should refund consumers that have affected products. I’ll never buy from them again!!!!!

  2. Helene says:

  8. Steven Riggle says:

I have purchased 2 of the Blendjet 2 units on November 17th 2023 and 2 more units on November 19th 2023 for Christmas presents. The recall came out just days after Christmas. The warranty on these units were for 30 days, but I did not realize this until after these units were opened as gifts and the recall was announced. Now, these unit are being recalled for defects, and no refunds can be sought, due to the 30 day warranty policy. The company is offering to replace the bases, but they will not match the color of the bases that were purchased. The bottom line of this whole scenario is, that given the campaign carried out by Blendjet to sell their products before Christmas to give as gifts, and the fact that the recall came only days after Christmas, suggests that they knew about the defective units, but sold them anyway. The recall was planned all along. This is terrible business practice. I think we deserve not only the purchase price, but an additional $1000.00 for this kind of inconvenience and deception. I will never buy another product from this company and I can only hope they are out of business as soon as possible.
