Empower Brands air fryer recall overview:

  • Who: Empower Brands recalled around 319,000 of its PowerXL DUAF-10 and DUAF-005 Vortex Dual-Basket Air Fryers.
  • Why: The recall was initiated over concerns the dual-basket air fryers contain a faulty part that could break while the product is in use, posing a burn hazard.
  • Where: The recalled air fryers were sold to consumers nationwide.

Empower Brands issued a recall of around 319,000 of its air fryer products over concerns a faulty part could break while the devices are in use, creating a burn hazard.

The recall involves PowerXL branded DUAF-10 and DUAF-005 Vortex Dual-Basket Air Fryers sold in either black or cinnamon color with a silver-colored “PowerXL” label on the front of the devices.

Empower Brands said it initiated the recall over concerns the air fryers’ U-channel connector — which gives users the option to combine the two food baskets inside of the device — can break during use.

Consumers have been advised to immediately stop using the recalled dual-basket air fryers and to contact Empower Brands directly to receive a full product refund.

Three burn injuries reported in connection with Empower Brands’ dual-basket air fryer recall

Empower Brands said it has received 41 reports of the recalled dual-basket air fryers breaking during use, leading to three reports of burn injuries.

The recalled dual-basket air fryers were sold online and at Target, Walmart and Kohls and other stores nationwide from August 2021 through October 2023 for between $60 and $190.

Individuals with more questions about the recall can contact Empower Brands directly by phone at 866-704-9370 or online

Empower Brands previously recalled more than 460,000 of its PowerXL Self-Cleaning Juicers earlier this year over concerns the devices could rupture while in use, posing a laceration hazard
