BlendJet blenders class action lawsuit overview:

  • Who: Luisset Figueroa and Jean Joseph filed a class action lawsuit against BlendJet Inc.
  • Why: Figueroa and Joseph claim BlendJet manufactured and sold BlendJet2 blenders that break or otherwise stop working within a short period of time.
  • Where: The class action lawsuit was filed in New York federal court.

BlendJet manufactured and sold BlendJet2 blenders with a defect that causes the device to break or otherwise stop working within a short period of time, a new class action lawsuit alleges.

Plaintiff Luisset Figueroa and Jean Joseph claim BlendJet, by virtue of the amount of complaints made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, is aware of the alleged defect with its BlendJet2 blenders, yet continues to market them in a positive manner.

“Unbeknownst to consumers, however, Defendant’s Product systematically fails to meet its advertised functions, including, but not limited, to, “crushing ice” or any other solid food item,” the BlendJet class action states.

Figueroa and Joseph want to represent a nationwide class and New York subclass of persons who, during the maximum period of time permitted by law, purchased a BlendJet2 blender for personal, family or household purposes.

‘Shoddy manufacturing’ to blame for allegedly defective BlendJet2 blenders, class action says

Figueroa and Joseph claim the alleged defect with the BlendJet2 blenders is due to “common conduct and shoddy manufacturing” on behalf of BlendJet.

“Defendant’s misleading and deceptive practices proximately caused harm to Plaintiff and the proposed class members who suffered an injury in fact and lost money or property as a result of Defendant’s deceptive conduct,” the BlendJet class action states.

Figueroa and Joseph claim BlendJet is guilty of breach of express and implied warranties, and of violating state consumer protection statutes and New York General Business Law

The plaintiffs are demanding a jury trial and requesting an award of compensatory, statutory and punitive damages for themselves and all class members.

In another case involving blenders, Nutribullet agreed to pay $10 million in May 2022 to resolve claims that some of its blenders are prone to overheating

  1. Samantha B says:

I purchased two blendjets. I had completed the recall form to receive my replacements six months ago and have not received anything so I had contacted the BBB and blendjet responded that somebody from their team would contact me, three weeks later I still have not heard from anyone. I took it upon myself to recently contact blendjet by email, and I am now being ignored with no replacements to blend jet’s that I was advised to throw away the batteries that could be explosive and harmful to me and my family.

I purchased my blendjet in November did everything for the recall it’s April I’ve still not received a replacement or refund and the company stopped responding to my emails.

  4. Denise Thompson says:

I cut the gasket and took a photo of that and the base as required. I emailed this the end of December. After a couple of months with no contact from the company, I sent a message. The standard reply was there is a supply chain issue and replacements are mailed in the order the required emails were received. More time went by and I reported the mess to the BBB. I got an email asking about what color I wanted and an offer to cancel the previous order. I declined because this would probably add another few months. We should have gotten the option of receiving a coupon for another unit.

I purchased a Blendjet last August 2023. I used this every day. After being notified by BlendJet of their decision to recall and replace the base of the blender, I promptly filled out the paperwork, cut the silicone washer (rendering both of my BlendJets unusable), and disposed of the base. For more than 7 weeks, I did not hear anything from BlendJet regarding the status of my replacement base. Still no tracking either. I have been without my BlendJet blendes for close to 8 weeks. $50-$60 dollars per blender is a steep price to pay for a product that doesn’t perform as advertised and that has been alleged to suffer from safety defects (overheating and risk of catching on fire). Very disappointed in BlendJet. I have my proof of purchase from Kohls. What do I do now? This blows!

After being notified by BlendJet of their decision to recall and replace the base of the blender, I promptly filled out the paperwork, cut the silicone washer (rendering both of my BlendJets unusable), and disposed of the base. For more than 8 weeks, I did not hear anything from BlendJet regarding the status of my replacement base. A week after I emailed the company, I received an email asking for me to provide the color of the blender I originally purchased, as they said they would promptly ship a new base in the same color I purchased so it would match the top. I replied the same day and requested shipping/tracking information. That was almost 4 days ago; I’ve heard nothing. Having worked in manufacturing and consumer products, this recall is a joke. Now I have been without the use of 2 BlendJet blenders for close to 10 weeks. $50-$60 dollars per blender is a steep price to pay for a product that doesn’t perform as advertised and that has been alleged to suffer from safety defects (overheating and risk of catching on fire). Very disappointed in BlendJet, especially as I previously owned 4 of the original BlendJet and 2 of the BlendJet2.

  7. Barbara Hallebach says:

I purchased 2 blend Jets directly from the Co. In Nov 2023.
One has since been recalled and the second burned and fried at the USB connection. I have sent the Co. several Emails and called numerous times with no success. They don’t answer. Very frustrated !!!
