honda infotainment screenA class action lawsuit claims that the infotainment display screens in 2017 to 2019 Honda CR-V vehicles possess a defect that cause them to malfunction and become inoperable.

The Honda display screen class action lawsuit was filed by Tony Woo, Daniel Rifkin, and Douglas P. Schwert who say they all purchased Honda vehicles equipped with a defective display system.

The drivers allege that they did not become aware of the defect until after they purchased the vehicle. The plaintiffs say they tried to get the defect repaired, but Honda did not offer a repair, saying the problem was out of scope of the vehicles’ warranty.

The Honda display screen class action lawsuit claims that the display screen defect affects CR-V model years 2017 through 2019 of the EX, EX-L, and Touring vehicles. Allegedly, the display controls many important functions of the vehicle, including safety features, information, communication, and entertainment features.

The display screen is reportedly considered standard equipment in the 2017 through 2019 vehicles. The drivers say that the display screens possess a common defect that causes them to malfunction in a number of ways. Allegedly, the defective screens freeze, or go into full bright mode during night time.

The Honda class action lawsuit says these problems pose a possible danger to drivers and passengers because they can cause distraction. Allegedly, when the screen malfunctions, it can call drivers’ attention from the road and to the screen, which can lead to drivers getting in collisions.

The Honda display screen defect class action lawsuit says Honda knew of the defect in the screens since at least 2018, but has not disclosed the issue to customers. Allegedly, the company shared knowledge of the defect with car dealers’ service departments and not the sales departments. Dealers were reportedly instructed not to inform prospective customers of the defect.

To further support the claim that Honda was aware of the defect, the Honda infotainment system class action lawsuit says that many customers have complained to the company about the problem. Allegedly, Honda is well aware of these complaints.

The drivers claim that Honda does not repair the displays screen defect within the warranty, and does not successfully repair the defect when asked to do so. Allegedly, this causes drivers financial injury and requires them to spend significant time to repair the defect.

The drivers seek damages on behalf of themselves and all similarly affected customers, saying that had they known that the vehicles have a defective display screen, they would not have purchased the vehicles, or would not have paid as much as they did for them.

CR-V owners have been receiving paperwork on a class action settlement against Honda for dilution of the motor oil with gas. The owners get reimbursed for documented costs of tows and oil changes, an extension of the drive train warranty for one additional year with no mileage limitation and some will get an unidentified repair.
Everything except the reimbursement has already been extended by Honda to the covered CR-V’s in all states. As far as I can tell, the settlement gives the owner nothing that she does not already have and waives the right to sue for engine damages due to diluted oil which will not appear until after the extended limited warranty.

My wife’s 2018 CR-V has recently developed a Tire Pressure warning that is a false alarm and will not reset when driven. It also has on two occasions had the infotainment center go “bozo”, cycling through its functions, varying volume, making calls to contacts in the paired iPhone, and varying its light setting. Luckily the most active event occurred while parked with the engine running. We will take it to the local dealer in the near future, but based on research do not expect a repair.

Yes. I have major issues with my 2017 Honda Accord Touring Hybrid (60,000 miles) infotainment system. Took it to local Honda dealer and was told only fix is to purchase new audio unit for $1100.00 dollars. Without system I have no navigation, radio, Bluetooth or access to system settings. Judging from number of complaints Honda is very aware of the problem.

  6. Jo Bedford says:

Purchased my 2019 CR-V in April 2019. I am experiencing the same issue with the infotainment center. Very dangerous and frustrating. Also my automatic door looks beep constantly when I leave the car until I open the door and shut it again. I bought a new car mainly to have a vehicle with all the new safety programs and car play. I am very disappointed and hope something can be done to fix these problems.

Since I have been using Honda insight touring, Hybrid/EV car I have noticed my health is going down. I lose consciousness while driving. I feel dizziness while I am driving. I almost lost the power/strength on the Right Arm. This all is a new experience for me. I never experienced this before with other cars.
I had a big medical bill for the hospital because Honda Hybrid EV was harming the nervous system. I was kept losing consciousness while driving. They cheated me for Honda Accord, They make me agreed on the price and charged me a different price. They deducted money from touring EV Hybrid. All the way game. Make sure you take a photo of what you agreed on. The story kept changing, Be careful if you are woman and senior, they will harm you. Someone has to put a stop on this.

I have heard about dangerous radiation levels that come from hybrid and electric car batteries. You’d might want to check into that

  8. Kerri says:

Honda refuses to acknowledge the defect of the display and the issue gets worse every week. Disconnects calls when the screen begins to flash for no reason and the only way to stop it is to turn the vehicle off.

I have a 2017 Honda CRV that has been doing this since shortly after I started the lease. The car was newly off the lot. Honda dealership has refused any help or guides to fix this problem! My entire system locks up. I have to find a safe place and pull over, turn car off wait a minute and restart the car. It is a hit or miss if this is going to fix it for 5 minutes, an hour or a few days. I very much regret purchasing this car and will not purchase another Honda.
