honda infotainment screenA class action lawsuit claims that the infotainment display screens in 2017 to 2019 Honda CR-V vehicles possess a defect that cause them to malfunction and become inoperable.

The Honda display screen class action lawsuit was filed by Tony Woo, Daniel Rifkin, and Douglas P. Schwert who say they all purchased Honda vehicles equipped with a defective display system.

The drivers allege that they did not become aware of the defect until after they purchased the vehicle. The plaintiffs say they tried to get the defect repaired, but Honda did not offer a repair, saying the problem was out of scope of the vehicles’ warranty.

The Honda display screen class action lawsuit claims that the display screen defect affects CR-V model years 2017 through 2019 of the EX, EX-L, and Touring vehicles. Allegedly, the display controls many important functions of the vehicle, including safety features, information, communication, and entertainment features.

The display screen is reportedly considered standard equipment in the 2017 through 2019 vehicles. The drivers say that the display screens possess a common defect that causes them to malfunction in a number of ways. Allegedly, the defective screens freeze, or go into full bright mode during night time.

The Honda class action lawsuit says these problems pose a possible danger to drivers and passengers because they can cause distraction. Allegedly, when the screen malfunctions, it can call drivers’ attention from the road and to the screen, which can lead to drivers getting in collisions.

The Honda display screen defect class action lawsuit says Honda knew of the defect in the screens since at least 2018, but has not disclosed the issue to customers. Allegedly, the company shared knowledge of the defect with car dealers’ service departments and not the sales departments. Dealers were reportedly instructed not to inform prospective customers of the defect.

To further support the claim that Honda was aware of the defect, the Honda infotainment system class action lawsuit says that many customers have complained to the company about the problem. Allegedly, Honda is well aware of these complaints.

The drivers claim that Honda does not repair the displays screen defect within the warranty, and does not successfully repair the defect when asked to do so. Allegedly, this causes drivers financial injury and requires them to spend significant time to repair the defect.

The drivers seek damages on behalf of themselves and all similarly affected customers, saying that had they known that the vehicles have a defective display screen, they would not have purchased the vehicles, or would not have paid as much as they did for them.

I have a 2015 Honda CRV Touring addition. Infotainment system stopped working last April. Car is no longer under warranty, so I had to shell out 600 dollars to replace the system. I think all cars with infotainment systems should be part of class action suit. There is a glitch in Honda’s product and they should fix it and reimburse those of us who’ve had to pay for replacement.

My honda pilot year make 2019 is having the same issue with the radio unavailable, communications lost and system reboot itself while driving issue. This issue keep happening and sometimes s few times in my 15 minutes drive. Lately a new issue of back camera is on while I am in”Drive” mode. The dealer said it’s Hinda isssue but i have waited for more than 6 months andnithing was done.

I still do and it’s been in the shop 2 times already. Ready to trade it in. I have video documentation of it. Drive one hour each way to work and the distractions I occurred were horrible. Made me want to drive faster….

I’d like more information. We bought a 2019 Honda Odyssey in April of 2019 and shortly after started having problems which have become much worse. I have taken it in and they never find anything—just do a system reboot and/or update. My husband called today and they told him they know about the issue will the Odysseys but can’t do anything/have tried many things and Honda won’t issue a solution.

  5. Judith Petruzzi says:

I have now had 2 infotainment systems with significant issues. I have video taped the defects and because they cannot be replicated diagnostically, we have no recourse. Two weeks of phone tag with Honda has resulted in no resolution or even acknowledgement that the product has defects. 10th Honda or Acura product. Very frustrated.

  6. Kristie S says:

Glad to see and hear I am not the only one having issues. I have Videos of my display malfunctioning was told from the dealership they can not do anything unless it is acting up when you drop the car off once you make the appointment there’s no issue. Honda needs to get their act together. We won’t discuss the navigation telling me to drive into the water on into a concrete wall on the highway either.

I bought our 2017 Honda Touring CRV in January of 2017. Within 4 weeks I started having problems with screen blackouts. Screen light adjustment would not work. After 1 & 1/2 years they replaced the computer in Car. Started having problems again with forward collision shutting off cruise control rendering all safety features inoperable. Have had many trips to dealer, and called Honda U S A . We have also had problems with blind spot shutting off.
