ford super duty truck tireA class action lawsuit claims that 2017 and 2018 Ford F-350 Super Duty trucks possess a defect that causes their tires to leak.

Plaintiffs James Collins and Ken Newman say they own Ford F-350 vehicles that possess the tire leak defect and they have to fill up the tires almost daily.

In Collins’ case, he allegedly went to a Ford dealership numerous times but the dealership only offered repairs that did not address the root problem of the defect. He says that he then hired a third-party dealership to fix the problem, but the wheels of his vehicle are still affected by the defect.

Likewise, Newman says he complained to Ford about the defect, but the dealerships did not remedy the problem. He claims that the dealership told him that the repairs to the wheels would not be covered under warranty. Newman says that he then had to pay out-of-pocket for repairs done by third-party mechanics. He claims that like Collins, his vehicle is still affected by the defect.

The Ford leaking tires class action lawsuit alleges that the tires of the Ford F-350 trucks leak because of a design defect in the wheels. The wheels reportedly have a valve stem which is affixed to a sensor and which is the point at which pressurized air is added to the tire. The Ford class action lawsuit says that the tire valve stems are made of a steel alloy, while the wheels are made of an aluminum alloy.

The Ford class action lawsuit goes on to say that the two metals are incompatible, because the contact between the steel valve stem and the aluminum wheel causes both to corrode where the two elements connect. This corrosion allegedly causes leaks, which result in the tires losing air pressure continuously. The customers claim that this is why they have to fill up their tires almost daily.

The plaintiffs allege that low tire pressure is a serious problem because it can take a toll on fuel economy, it can reduce the life of the tires, it can affect vehicle handling, and it can ultimately affect the safety of the passengers.

The customers claim that tires with low pressure can deflate or blow out instantaneously, which can cause the drivers to lose control of the vehicle.

The Ford class action lawsuit states that Ford offers a repair for the problem, but knows that the repair is ineffective. According to the Ford tire pressure class action lawsuit, the repair offered does not address the root issue of the defect — the corrosion and tire deflation.

    2017 F350 dually. All four of the aluminum rims leak at the valve stem. The truck has been into 4 different dealerships a total of five times. It is visiting a new dealership for the sixth time next week. I have a case number with Ford Motor Co. Dealership isn’t sure if this visit will be covered under warranty

    2018 f350 dually platinum.
    This truck has had the leaky valve problem from the first oil change and the dealership changes valve stems everytime the oil is changed. After 40,000 miles the amount of time money and valve stems spent is excessive. I’ve had to invest in a power tank to keep air in the tires. Just rediculious!

    Same story. Probably 1400 miles on truck, just for taking it to Dealer to have valve stems put in. One wheel has been replaced in May now we are leaking again out of 2 different tires. Ford Customer Care insist that it go to Dealer again for evaluation. Ridiculous to pay this kind of money for a truck and not have the safety going down the road besides the headache of hauling a compressor to air tires up on a trip.

    2019 F350 King Ranch Dually less than 7,000 miles and having the same issue
    The only thing the Ford dealer will do is put the same valve stems in.
    Had a independent tire shop install a rubber valve stem and it’s still loosing air
    Please put me in the class action lawsuit

    Same Problem here. 2017 F350 Dually with 12K miles. 2 wheels constantly need refilling. Took to dealer at ~8K miles and they argued with me there was no leak even though I had a video of leak where I put soap bubbles on valve. Said their mechanic disagreed. That left me shouting at them. I had a brand new truck and all I wanted was a valve stem fix. They eventually agreed to fix it. A few months later- it’s leaking once again, along with a 2nd wheel as well. I’m so pissed off about this. I’m 100% in with any class action lawsuit. Please add me in!

    Constantly airing up my 2019 F350 dually platinum. Been airing myself and stem/tires 3rd party. Warranty almost up. Will take to ford now that I see it’s not just me…

      News Flash, earlier models do same my 2016 Platinum Dually has same problem. Interesting however my 2013 and 2010 models did not have this problem. So i suspect Ford changed materials or suppliers etc. all of my trucks were operated in same environment for similar mileage.

    Same complaint 6th tire now leaking to the point it goes flat in a day. It’s a 2019 Ford Dually with 14,000 miles. I’m so frustrated. It’s always the outside ones too never the inside duals

    My 2019 Ford F350 dually has leaking valves on four of the wheels made out of aluminum which makes up four of the six wheels on my dually F350. The inner wheels on the rear of truck don’t leak because they are made out of steel. Any engineer knows that steel and aluminum don’t work nice in contact with each other and corrode to excess. My truck has low miles of less than 7000 miles and been through one light winter. A quick check on internet tells you this problem is not new and been on going for many years and Ford delays fixing the problem. This is a big safety problem on trucks made to haul big loads in excess of 15000 pounds. When you spend $70,000 dollars on a truck you expect better than this. Ford its time to fix the problem.

    I am having the same problem on a 2019 F350 Dually. Ford replaced all the stems but I am still having continuous leaks.

    2019 F350 platinum Dually.

    Constant issues with these valve stems. Always have to add air every day. Some as much as 20 pounds per day.

    No excuse for this.

    Ford dealership doesn’t want to do anything to fix. And now I am over my 60,000 they won’t do it under warranty. Even though I paid thousands for extended warranty to 160,000.
