A class action lawsuit claims that 2017 and 2018 Ford F-350 Super Duty trucks possess a defect that causes their tires to leak.
Plaintiffs James Collins and Ken Newman say they own Ford F-350 vehicles that possess the tire leak defect and they have to fill up the tires almost daily.
In Collins’ case, he allegedly went to a Ford dealership numerous times but the dealership only offered repairs that did not address the root problem of the defect. He says that he then hired a third-party dealership to fix the problem, but the wheels of his vehicle are still affected by the defect.
Likewise, Newman says he complained to Ford about the defect, but the dealerships did not remedy the problem. He claims that the dealership told him that the repairs to the wheels would not be covered under warranty. Newman says that he then had to pay out-of-pocket for repairs done by third-party mechanics. He claims that like Collins, his vehicle is still affected by the defect.
The Ford leaking tires class action lawsuit alleges that the tires of the Ford F-350 trucks leak because of a design defect in the wheels. The wheels reportedly have a valve stem which is affixed to a sensor and which is the point at which pressurized air is added to the tire. The Ford class action lawsuit says that the tire valve stems are made of a steel alloy, while the wheels are made of an aluminum alloy.
The Ford class action lawsuit goes on to say that the two metals are incompatible, because the contact between the steel valve stem and the aluminum wheel causes both to corrode where the two elements connect. This corrosion allegedly causes leaks, which result in the tires losing air pressure continuously. The customers claim that this is why they have to fill up their tires almost daily.
The plaintiffs allege that low tire pressure is a serious problem because it can take a toll on fuel economy, it can reduce the life of the tires, it can affect vehicle handling, and it can ultimately affect the safety of the passengers.
The customers claim that tires with low pressure can deflate or blow out instantaneously, which can cause the drivers to lose control of the vehicle.
The Ford class action lawsuit states that Ford offers a repair for the problem, but knows that the repair is ineffective. According to the Ford tire pressure class action lawsuit, the repair offered does not address the root issue of the defect — the corrosion and tire deflation.

Third time reply valve stem. I’ll leave the truck to sit overnight and leaks 20 to 40 lb of pressure every day Ford gives the run around and just replaces valve stems. Instead of putting a Band-Aid on the problem they need to fix the problem
Same issue. Two leaking. Add me
I’ve had my 2018 f-350 dually in the shop for valve stem replacement on all 4 aluminum rims. I currently have 2 that need replaced again.
We have had this issue since day one of owning our platinum 350 that we paid top dollar for. We have gotten the run around and am at our wits end. It’s a serious pain in the rear to fill the inner tires and ford denies there is an issue.
I have a 2015 F450 that has had this problem in spades, on all 4 aluminum wheels on the dually.
Same here, did have a 2015 Dually where the right front started leaking, leak was from a crack in the rim itself close to the valve stem. Did have to get seller dealer involved to get warranty replacement. Fixed the problem by trading in Ford and get a new Chevrolet Dually.
Then a Ford 2017 Dually paid for multiple valvstem replacements but no cracked rims.
Now have a 2019 Ford with Cracked left Front where the truck has to meet up with the wheel so they can send in pictures to ford again. Right front an right rear is leaking about 1psi per day so I will leave it with the selling dealer so they get all the wheels fixed.
Looks Alcoa has a rim that is made for Ford Dually too.
I really questioned that the selling dealer could not just replace the rim on warranty without having to bring the truck 1200 miles just so they can take pictures ? To get the answer I was asked to call the Ford customer care center in the Philippines that after a few weeks escalated the case so a US Ford person finally called back that still could not answer who came up with their policy regarding warranty on avius stuff like a rim that has a internal crack and no outside or inside damage. $ 80,000.00 truck, 12000 miles should be no brainer for any one else than Ford.
We have in for 4th time valve stems replaced many times and still leaking on 2018 dually. Was told they would replace rims last time but didn’t so it’s in again.
We pull a 17,000 lbs. Fifth wheel and shouldn’t have to worry about your tires all the time.

I have a F350 2017 year model with these type wheels. I am having the same issues. My local dealer has replaced the rear wheels approx. six months ago and they are now showing signs of corrosion. My Rt front tire is leaking due to this and I have taken it to the dealer twice and still not fixed. I pay it doesn’t someone getting injured or killed to bring about change. Ford should make this right.
