Pocket Hose settlement

Telebrands Corporation has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging it made false and misleading statements regarding its Pocket Hose expandable garden hoses. If you purchased Pocket Hose products, you may be entitled to a cash payment from this class action settlement.

The Pocket Hose class action lawsuit alleges Telebrands made false and misleading statements in connection with the sale and marketing of certain Pocket Hose products. The plaintiffs also assert that the Pocket Hose products are defective.

The Pocket Hose was reportedly first introduced through television infomercials. The expandable garden hose was advertised as “a rugged and durable garden hose” that is “strong enough for any job.”

However, consumers have complained that the Pocket Hose is defective because it is prone to leak or burst when used in the manner advertised. This defect renders the Pocket Hose useless, the consumers allege.

Telebrands denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle the Pocket Hose class action lawsuit to avoid the expense and uncertainty of litigation. The Telebrands class action settlement was preliminarily approved on Nov. 4, 2016.

If you would like to exclude yourself from or object to the Pocket Hose settlement, you must do so no later than Feb. 20, 2017.

Telebrands has previously agreed to settle a class action lawsuit involving similar allegations. That Pocket Hose settlement provided cash benefits to consumers who purchased the products between Nov. 6, 2009 and Jan. 30, 2014.

I have never had to give ss# for any other claim.

  2. Bret says:

    I received this…

The social security number requirement is for identification purposes and used to avoid fraud and duplication of claims and was approved by the Court. Accordingly, the social security number is only viewed by Digital Settlement Group LLC, the court approved class action administrator, who will ensure this data is protected and held in strict confidence. 3. Tammy Thompson says:

I agree as well. Should not have to give out social security number as what does that have to do with it. Not worth it for the $7 I should get as bought one during that time and had issues too with it. Trying to get people’s information to use for something else or what?

  4. Douglas McMillan says:

The form is rigged so you are unable to finish it.

  5. WV Heather says:

Same here! I will NOT give them my SS#. No need for it. It was not given to purchase and is not needed for a refund.

  6. Sarah says:

I think the social security requirement is to prevent fake claims!! So many people will claim just to get some extra cash.

    1. fs says:

I disagree. It seems like it just prevents them from paying out more money, so that the rest of the settlement funds can go back to the company and the lawyers.

  7. Judy Taxara says:

I filled out the form until it asked for my social security number. I am not applying for credit or anything else that would need my SS#. So I will have to pass on my refund- I bought two of these hoses and one of them actually got mold on it and the other one leaked.

    1. Marquia says:

I feel the same way…I bought this item in 2015 to use on a property I managed and it broke (didn’t hold water)…I kept it to return it…and Target would not take it back…so I threw it away…Now you want my social security number…this is unfair to consumers who believe in products and they fail us.

  8. Stephanie Edgison says:

I agree, no reason to leave a SS#, we are all taught not to give that out, come on!!

  9. Bonnie Wiltfong says:

Bonnie Wiltfong I will not put a true SS# down. Why do you need it? I did not give my SS# to buy it.

  10. Pat Moore says:

Sorry not worth puting my ss# down to get any refund. The hose broke not worth the money you pay for them.

    1. Pam says:

I agree with all that was said. I am suspicious it may be a bad link in that there was a page directed prior to the instruction page.
I had 3 of these, 2 burst. I threw all of them away. I didn’t want to risk the 3rd one bursting. Was a great idea!!
