- Where: The Honda Ridgeline recall applies across the United States.
Honda is recalling 187,290 of its 2020-2024 Ridgeline pickup trucks due to an issue with electric wiring for the vehicles’ rear view cameras.
The camera wiring harness allows freezing water and salt into the woven twisted tube, potentially causing cracks and wire breakage within the tube, the recall says.
This may cause the camera to not display an image, impacting the driver’s view and increasing the risk of collision or injury while the vehicle is reversing.
Wire harness replacement, reimbursement for prior out-of-pocket costs available
Honda did not say if it has not received any reports of injury related to the recall so far. The automaker is not currently facing legal action over the recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
Honda will replace the wiring harness with a new sturdier harness and those who have already paid to fix the issue are eligible for reimbursement of those expenses.
Dealers have been notified of the recall and vehicle owners will be notified on July 1. Owners may contact Honda service at 888-234-2138.
Honda initiated a November 2023 recall for nearly 250,000 vehicles over concerns they were manufactured with a connecting rod bearing in their engines that could wear and seize, leading to engine damage.
