UPDATE:

  • This class action settlement is paying out as of April 14, 2023.
  • Congratulations to everyone who filed a claim and got paid!

Consumers who were prescribed Suboxone could benefit from a $500,000 Federal Trade Commission (FTC) settlement over false advertising and antitrust violations.

The settlement benefits consumers who were prescribed Suboxone oral film between March 1, 2013, and Feb. 28, 2019.

Suboxone is a medication used to treat opioid addiction, according to Drugs.com. The medication comes in a tablet and film form.

According to the FTC, Reckitt Benckiser and Indivior conspired together to maximize Suboxone profits at the expense of consumers. In an attempt to convince more patients to take their branded medication, the companies allegedly deceived patients and doctors with claims that the film version of Suboxone was safer than tablet versions.

To secure their profits from this alleged false advertising, Reckitt Benckiser and Indivior suppressed generic competition by filing “meritless” petitions with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the FTC contends. These petitions reportedly repeated unsupported safety claims about the film version of Suboxone and urged the FDA to reject applications for generic tablet alternatives.

The FTC says these actions caused consumers to pay more for Suboxone when, in a healthy market, they would have otherwise been able to purchase less expensive generic versions of the medication.

In July 2020, Reckitt Benckiser agreed to a $50 million settlement to resolve these claims. Shortly after, Indivior agreed to pay $10 million to resolve the allegations.

In May 2021, the FTC distributed over $59 million to consumers who were prescribed Suboxone. Of this sum, $42 million was sent in the form of 37,212 checks while the remaining $16 million was sent as 14,663 prepaid debit cards. The 51,875 payments averaged $1,139.

With the remaining $500,000 from the settlement fund, the FTC is distributing payments to consumers who submit a valid claim form

These payments are only available to consumers who contacted the claims administrator after the original 2021 claim deadline and asked to be put on the waitlist for payments. Consumers cannot file a claim if they did not add their name to the waitlist before September 2021, even if they otherwise qualify for payments.

No deadline for exclusion or objection is listed on the settlement website. The Suboxone FTC settlement is not subject to final court approval.

In order to receive a payment from the Suboxone FTC settlement, consumers must submit a valid claim form by Nov. 26, 2022. To file a claim, consumers must use the ID number they received via email or mail.

Nevermind it’s supposed to be used as a detox method. Joke. Coming off of them is worse than kicking the actual drug!!! Being on them for years is definitely not good either. Should only be a year or 2 at most, then you still have to detox. You can’t just come off of them. You’ll be sicker than the actual drug 😔

All of you that are saying “add me” or that you didn’t get an ID# you are probably out of luck on this. For one, this website cannot just add someone to the list of recipients for the settlement. And second, everyone who is eligible for a settlement was mailed a postcard with your specific ID# on it. If you moved then it looks as though you should’ve had your mail forwarded to your new mailing address. The administrator is not going to track you down & I’m sure that they are not going to go out of their way by having an employee answering a phone just to give out ID#’s to people that don’t have theirs anymore for whatever reasons they may have. It just doesn’t work that way when it comes to such as this. I know it’s sucks for some of you but, I’m sure that the administrators of this aren’t going to go out if their way for anyone no matter what their circumstances are. Now that I think of it, I was mailed 2 of the postcards about this settlement, both containing my unique ID#. Anyway, those of you commenting on here “add me”, do you really think that you will be added by saying that here & on this webpage? If you do then all I have to say is, your not very bright are you.

  4. Amy Rose says:

I got the first settlement but I can’t find my paper with my ID number. Do I just call the claims center number to get it?

    1. Robin says:

I could be wrong, but I think the payments are for those that did not receive payment yet.

      1. Ranada says:

        No ur not wrong

    2. Molly says:

How do they determine the settlement amount?

  5. HENRY T HEBRON says:

I’ve been on suboxton for 4 to 5 years I can provide medical records if needed an I still take it can’t get a claim number have tried every avenue my cell is 708 552 3993 if needed to talk

  6. Amanda McLaurin says:

I never received an ID number as well, I’ve been on Suboxone for over 7 years now. Please add me. How do you find out if you do have an id number, if you never received a letter??

    1. Jillian Angelica says:

This site just informs people about class action lawsuits, they can’t add anyone to anything, you would have had to have filed the claim form in the original settlement, along with your electronic signature that you affirm, under penalty of perjury, that everything you have stated is correct. You only get a unique user id# to collect this very last round of payments if you filed a claim in the original settlement, but didn’t do it on time, so asked to be put on a list for the end, if there were funds left after those who filed timely claims in the original lawsuit were paid. Top class actions cannot do this for you or anyone else, in any of these lawsuits, and it doesn’t matter if you have been on Suboxone since it was cleared by the FDA, if you dont file the legal claim forms, you aren’t entitled to anything. You also aren’t entitled to anything just by being prescribed this medication, you needed to have used the pharmacies stated above, during the timeframe given. Hope this helps explain what a class action lawsuit is, and what you need to do.

      1. Dawn Rhoads says:

I did not know that. So are you saying you had to use a certain pharmacy? If yes where can I see that list? Thank you

  7. Artisa Crump says:

    I need a Id number

    1. Sonya Farhoud says:

      I need an I’d number

  8. Eugene Cannon says:

I’m trying to get I.D. # I’ve been prescribe this medication since 2017.

  9. Abigail Robbins says:

I need ID #. I have been prescribed Suboxone films for the last (almost) 13 years- Since January 2011. I have pharmacy records if needed. Thanks

    1. Abigail Robbins says:

I completed claim after first claim deadline in 2021.

      1. Nancy says:

How? I tried yesterday. So annoying the amount of money I spent on that stuff &;I regret it.

        1. Robin Smedley says:

You can only submit a claim now, if you signed up and received an ID# before the deadline in 2021. If you did get on the waitlist, go to suboxoneclaimscenter.com to complete the form.

  10. Deeann Morris says:

I do not have the same address or email.. how do I get my ID number?
