Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is facing a lawsuit after the allergy death of a woman who ate food she was allegedly told was allergen-free at Raglan Road Irish Pub at Disney Springs in Orlando, Florida.
Kanokporn Tangsuan died due to anaphylaxis, which a medical examiner said occurred “due to elevated levels of dairy and nut in her system,” according to the lawsuit.
Jeffrey J. Piccolo, Tangsuan’s husband, filed the lawsuit in Orange County, Florida, court.
Tangsuan ordered dishes called Frittered, Scallop Forest, This Shepherd Went Vegan and Onion Rings from Raglan Road. The waiter assured her the food was allergen-free both when she ordered and when the food arrived; some of the items did not include flags indicating they were allergen-free, the Disney lawsuit says.
The couple left the restaurant around 8 p.m. Oct. 5, 2023. Piccolo returned to their room, and Tangsuan went shopping at Disney Springs.
Allergic reaction left woman struggling for breath, Disney lawsuit claims
Tangsuan stumbled into Planet Hollywood about 8:45 p.m. while having an allergic reaction and collapsed, the Disney death lawsuit says. Someone called 911 was called at 8:46 p.m. as she struggled to breathe.
The caller told the 911 dispatcher Tangsuan “was suffering from a severe allergic reaction and had emergently self-administered an epi-pen,” the Disney lawsuit says.
Tangsuan was rushed to an area hospital where she died, according to the lawsuit.
The plaintiff is suing the company and restaurant for alleged negligence. He is seeking compensation for pain and suffering, loss of companionship, lost support, funeral expenses, loss of accumulations to the estate, medical expenses and loss of income.
A judge recently dismissed Disney’s free-speech lawsuit against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, the Florida secretary of commerce and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD).

The Disney allergy death lawsuit is Piccolo v. Great Irish Pubs Florida Inc. d/b/a Ragland Road Irish Pub and Restaurant, et al., Case No. 192562166, in the Circuit Court for the 9th Judicial Circuit in and for Orange County, Florida.
