Two new class action lawsuits allege Victra, one of the largest Verizon retailers in the country, failed to protect customers’ and employees’ sensitive personal information, resulting in a data breach.
Plaintiffs Jonathan Daffin and Lea Webb filed separate class action lawsuits against Victra after cybercriminals breached its computer systems around April 22, 2026, and stole customers’ and employees’ private information.
Daffin alleges the breach exposed Social Security numbers and financial account information, while Webb claims it also compromised dates of birth, driver’s license numbers and state identification numbers.
The complaints also allege Victra waited until around July to notify affected individuals.
“[Victra’s] actions represent a flagrant disregard of the rights of plaintiff and the class, both as to privacy and property,” Daffin’s complaint says.
The plaintiffs seek to represent nationwide classes of individuals whose information was compromised in the breach, including anyone sent a notice letter.
The Verizon data breach class action lawsuits accuse Victra of negligence, breach of implied contract and unjust enrichment. Both plaintiffs demand a jury trial and seek damages, restitution and injunctive relief.
Plaintiffs claim Verizon data breach led to spam calls
Daffin alleges he has noticed two to three spam calls daily since the breach and has spent hours monitoring his accounts, believing his data was sold on the dark web using cybercriminals’ typical “modus operandi.”
The complaint alleges Victra generates more than $500 million in annual revenue, resources it allegedly failed to use for adequate data security.
The Verizon class action lawsuits allege Victra ignored basic cybersecurity safeguards despite storing sensitive data for thousands of people.
Webb argues that the breach stems from an unauthorized party accessing a Victra employee’s email account. Both complaints argue Victra failed to encrypt data or use firewalls and intrusion detection systems recommended by the Federal Trade Commission.
Webb further states that Victra’s offer of 24 months of free credit monitoring is inadequate since identity theft risks persist for years.
Meanwhile, TikTok is facing a lawsuit accusing it of failing to protect the private information of billions of users during a data breach in June 2026.
