Three nationwide class action lawsuits allege glucose monitor maker Dexcom left the personal and health information of its consumers and employees vulnerable to cybercriminals.
Plaintiff Lee Spruell claims Dexcom was hacked on or around Oct. 1, 2026, while plaintiff Amanda Slepr says the attack occurred on or around Oct. 5, 2026. Dexcom has not issued a data breach notice or publicly confirmed the alleged hack.
Spruell alleges a ransomware monitoring group tied the breach to ShinyHunters, a hacking group the Federal Bureau of Investigation warned about in May 2026. The group allegedly posted Dexcom’s name and an apparent countdown on its dark web leak site. Slepr also claims ShinyHunters took responsibility for the attack.
Spruell and plaintiff Yuriy Loginov claim names, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, financial information, medical records and health insurance information may have been compromised. Slepr says hackers stole unencrypted files containing personal and health information.
“Plaintiff and class members now face a lifetime risk of identity theft due to the nature of the information lost, which they cannot change and which cannot be made private again,” Sleprโs class action lawsuit states.
Dexcom data breach lawsuits detail alleged harms and negligence
Spruell is a former Dexcom consumer and Slepr is a patient and customer. Loginov, a prospective consumer, claims he gave Dexcom his information when inquiring about its services.
According to the plaintiffs, they suffer anxiety, sleep disruption, stress and fear because of the alleged Dexcom data breach. Slepr says she checked her bills and accounts, and she worries about what medical information was revealed. The plaintiffs also claim they face a heightened risk of identity theft and fraud.
Spruell and Loginov allege Dexcom failed to properly train its employees on cybersecurity and did not promptly warn affected individuals, delaying their efforts to protect themselves. Slepr argues Dexcom failed to encrypt sensitive data or delete information it no longer needed.
The Dexcom data breach lawsuits accuse the company of negligence and breach of implied contract. Loginov also alleges invasion of privacy and breach of fiduciary duty.
The plaintiffs seek damages and injunctive relief, and Slepr asks the court to require Dexcom to encrypt data and submit to independent security audits. All three plaintiffs demand a jury trial.
Earlier this year, Dexcom alerted users after discovering that two lots of Dexcom G7 sensors โ originally set aside as scrap and intended for destruction โ were stolen and resold through unauthorized channels.
