Taxotere Lawsuit Alleges No Hair Regrowth after ChemotherapyMost chemotherapy patients are aware of the dangers of losing their hair while getting this critical cancer treatment. But a lawsuit says that people who used the popular breast cancer medication, Taxotere, were never informed that they might experience no hair regrowth after chemotherapy.

Failure of hair regrowth after chemotherapy can be alarming for cancer patients who assume that their hair would ultimately grow back after surviving cancer and going through cancer treatments.

For a woman who has already lived through cancer and come out on the other side, permanent loss of hair amplifies possibly the most traumatic time in her life. Current lawsuit plaintiffs say that women should at least know about the possible risks before making the decision to use this treatment option.

The plaintiffs’ steering committee in this multidistrict litigation allegs that women who were given Taxotere were never told about the possibility of no hair regrowth after chemotherapy. While most chemotherapy patients lose most or all of their hair during the process of getting this treatment, it typically regrows after the treatment has been concluded. However, users of Taxotere, a chemotherapy drug given to people who suffer mostly from breast cancer, is allegedly connected with no hair regrowth after chemotherapy, a condition known as alopecia.

The lawsuit alleges that these drugs cause permanent hair loss. The plaintiffs allege that this side effect has been publicized in numerous articles, presentations and scientific studies. However, the lawsuit alleges that the manufacturers failed to warn users of the chemotherapy medication about the high risk of having no hair regrowth after chemotherapy in the future.

Plaintiffs in this no hair regrowth after chemotherapy lawsuit were women who were diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent chemotherapy using Taxotere, and now report that they suffer from permanent hair loss.

Many of the plaintiffs have struggled to return to their life as normal due to no hair regrowth after chemotherapy because a crucial element of their identities, their hair, never came back. The Taxotere lawsuit says that the defendants failed to warn that irreversible and permanent hair loss was a common side effect of Taxotere.

The plaintiffs in this lawsuit say that they could have made a different decision about whether or not Taxotere was their preferred method of receiving chemotherapy treatment if they had known about the dangers of experiencing no hair regrowth after chemotherapy.

Many of these women have come together and have experienced similar side effects in numerous states across the country and in varying levels of breast cancer treatment.

Unfortunately, even after beating cancer, some of these women have suffered with permanent hair loss and claim that this has made a difficult situation even more challenging.

The Taxotere Lawsuit is Case No. 2:16-MD-02740-KDE-MBN filed in the United States District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana.
