ocwenTop Class Actions viewers are starting to receive checks in the mail from a Ocwen Loan Servicing voluntary claim program established over accusations that the company sent misdated letters to borrowers that may have resulted in a foreclosure referral.

According to reader comments, Class Members who submitted timely and valid claims for the Ocwen misdated letters claim program started receiving checks worth as much as $2,000 on Oct. 24, 2016.

If you filed a claim for the Ocwen program, keep an eye on your mailbox because checks are on their way!

screen-shot-2016-10-25-at-1-06-18-pmscreen-shot-2016-10-25-at-1The Ocwen misdated letters claim program resolves allegations initially brought by New York Department of Financial Services Superintendent Benjamin Lawsky.

According to Lawsky, possibly hundreds of thousands Owen borrowers received a letter denying a mortgage loan modification with erroneous information.

The borrowers allegedly received the denial letter which informed the recipient that they had 30 days to file an appeal. However, the date on the letter was set more than 30 days prior to the mailing date so borrowers may have thought the deadline to file an appeal had already passed.

Class Members included Ocwen borrowers who received a misdated letter between Jan. 1, 2012 and Dec. 31, 2014 and were then referred for foreclosure.

Ocwen voluntarily set aside $100 million to compensate eligible Class Members.

The deadline to file a claim for the Ocwen misdated letters claim program passed on May 2, 2016.

I just called again today (12/21/16) and was told my claim is still in review. Really? This is so ridiculous! I almost, ALMOST, feel silly continuing to call but hey I’m a consumer and a court of law has ruled that Ocwen knowingly and willing defrauded customers so….I told the rep that I will be calling daily because I haven’t received a denial letter and if I’m getting a check I would like to know in advance.

On another note, Ocwen doesn’t seem to have any issues paying these customer service reps to field our calls….

I have email them on several occasions this month and the response I get every time is “We are looking into your inquiry and will get back to you as soon as possible.

  4. sylvia says:

Has anyone received a denial to their claim? I’ve been calling, and I get the same speech eveeytime. Now, one of the representatives told me that they have until the 31st to mail out checks or notices…

  5. Renee says:

I just called and was told the same “still in review” and checks would be mailed in late 2016. Clearly that’s the script..at this point I will be calling back daily to check the status. It’s December 14, how could the “review” process still not be complete?
IMO, Ocwen is still taking advantage of consumers by intentionally holding on to these funds, while collecting interest, and waiting until the last day of the month to release checks before they can be penalized!

  6. Patricia says:

I called AGAIN on December 5th.Was told i am still in “review” and they expect to send all checks by late 2016! I replied that it is ALMOST 2017! Was told to call next week..And i will

I received $750 check, looks like it is lower than others. Is there any benefit to contacting Ocwen to make sure I am not eligible for more? Thanks

I’m a “C”. Nothing yet. During my last call to them, I was told my case was under review, and that we would either receive a check or a denial letter by the end of December. Still nothing. Has anyone gotten a denial letter?
