Nissan Rogue recall overview:
- Who: Nissan is recalling more than 300,000 Rogue vehicles.
- Why: The recall is due to potential engine failure caused by increased temperatures breaking down engine oil.
- Where: The Nissan recall is active in the United States.
Nissan has issued a recall for over 300,000 of its Nissan Rogue vehicles, citing a risk of engine failure. The affected models are from the years 2023 to 2025 and are equipped with three-cylinder, 1.5-liter variable-compression turbo engines.
The Nissan recall, announced on Feb. 12, affects 323,917 units, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The issue stems from increased temperatures that can degrade engine oil, potentially causing the engine bearings to seize and become damaged, which may lead to engine failure.
“Engine failure can cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash,” the Nissan recall notice says.
This failure can result in a loss of drive power and increase the risk of a crash. Furthermore, a bearing failure could breach the engine block, allowing hot oil to escape and increasing the risk of an engine fire.
Nissan recall addresses engine failure concerns in Rogue vehicles
To address the issue, Nissan dealers will reprogram the engine control module software, inspect for diagnostic trouble codes, and conduct a test drive of the vehicle, all free of charge.
If necessary, dealers may also inspect the oil pan for metal debris and replace the engine. The recall notice emphasizes that these repairs will be performed at no cost to Nissan Rogue owners.
Nissan is taking steps to inform affected vehicle owners by mailing out notification letters by March 27, 2026.
Owners are encouraged to contact Nissan’s customer service at 800-647-7261 for further assistance or visit the NHTSA website to check if their vehicle is included in the Nissan recall.
Nissan says it has not received any reports of injuries related to the recall so far. The company is not currently facing legal action over the Nissan Rogue recall, but Top Class Actions follows recalls closely as they sometimes lead to class action lawsuits.
In other Nissan Rogue news, the company is facing a class action lawsuit accusing it of selling Rogue vehicles with defective rear windshields that can spontaneously explode.

27 thoughts onNissan recalls over 300,000 Rogue vehicles due to engine failure risk
This sounds EXACTLY like the issue of the Nissan Frontier pickup. I had a “surging” issue with the engine racing in front of my house just
days after I bought it ( second hand). Took it to dealer here and they could not find anything wrong. Three months later, I was on my way to work when the truck took on a life of it’s own, crossed 4 lanes od traffic and both, mine and the other truck, were totalled. I demanded an investigation, Nissan sent their own investigator from TN, and….no issues found. I found a website called Carcomplaints(?) and found dozens of engine surging incidents of the Nissan Frontier. I have a three ring binder of complaints and pictures. And….Nissan denies anything wrong. It’s STILL on our highways. How many people have been killed…????
I have been experiencing recall-related engine failure symptoms since 2024 on my 2022 Nissan Rogue, including total loss of power at highway speeds (TERRIFYING!!). I was dismissed and was always told nothing seemed wrong by technicians. The recall notice came out in 2025 that lined up exactly with everything I’d been experiencing. The recall specifically states these defective engine components can lead to progressive damage and failure. The recall service was not available until January 2026. The recall service is a SOFTWARE UPDATE and one mile test drive. They don’t repair, replace, or even inspect for the defective components. They send you back on the road with the same defective components. My engine failed shortly after. Nissan is denying coverage, stating that they performed the recall service, so the engine failure is not due to the defective engine components they never replaced. I was basically told point blank by a Nissan arbitration specialist that they won’t take me seriously or consider the substantive supporting documentation I provided. They won’t even talk to me. They will only work communicate and take seriously a lawyer if I hire one. My own dealer said it’s absolutely BS after fighting along side me to get Nissan to cover damages. After they also hit a dead end said, the service director told me he fully expects a lawsuit on this and hopes I can eventually find relief through that. It’s sickening what I am going through, knowing that Nissan knows I have a case and my dealer knows I have a case, but Nissan is expecting me and other customers to give up before they are forced to do the right thing.
I have been on the hunt for a lawyer, but have been struggling because my case falls into such an awkward bucket.
I bought my 24 rouge on Feb 18th. From enterprise. They claim not to sell anything with a open recall. I have went back and forth with them amd they say car fax says the recall came out on Feb 27th on car fax. I believe the recall came put on Feb 12th. Im not sure how to handle there broken end 9f the contract but I didnt even have the cat a week and it did exactly what the recall is for.
